I think this is a sensible change, but it's odd to place the blame on "businesses now relying on virtual meetings."
The real issue is more likely that leisure travelers didn't want to leave Seattle that early, and business travelers who needed to be in PDX by 9 a.m. couldn't take that train...
I don't think that VanWa's proximity to local bus routes or the ease of navigating the Interstate Bridge via bicycle will really come into play here. IF someone can figure out the ticket-purchasing angle of it, getting a free ticket from Seattle to VanWa and then a paid ticket on the same train...
It's a nice idea but not entirely ready for prime time, since it only covers WA-only itineraries. The WSDOT folks on social media have been fielding tons of questions from people complaining that they can't use it to travel between SEA-PDX or SEA-VAC, which are obviously two very popular...
Amtrak Cascades train sees record ridership in Oregon in March

Amtrak has a page for the route and is advertising it on Facebook.
https://www.amtrak.com/routes/borealis-train.html
As usual, it's difficult to locate anything resembling an actual timetable on the Amtrak website. The "Borealis" pulls up nothing at the moment on the Schedule page.
A truck driver who ignored height limits for I-95 struck a railroad bridge on I-95 last night, causing damage to the bridge that carries freight and NJT's Atlantic City line (near the Delaware River).
The freeway is shut down as well as rail traffic.
NJT has established a "bus bridge" between...
Judging from the Amtrak Alerts twitter feed, the "south of Kelso" slide zone has struck again. This post was followed by several others referring to the cancellation of various Cascades and CS trains, which will presumably last until Sunday afternoon.
That's fair, though I suppose the people living along the SE side of Baltimore would also appreciate fewer hazmats.
Anyhow, my suggestion to NOT rebuild the bridge is complete fancy, of course. The "we WILL rebuild" rhetoric was unleashed even before the sun came up Tuesday morning. No...
Hot take: There will not be traffic nightmares as the result of this bridge collapse. As jis alludes, there is virtually no reason for thru-travelers to use the Key Bridge. I lived in SE Penna for years and often traveled through the Balt/DC area to get to NoVa, and while I used the tunnels...
OK, this is probably a more general operational question than a Cascades-specific question, but it involves a Cascades train so I'll post it here. Today's southbound 505 had some mechanical issue and arrived in Eugene 2 1/2 hours late at 4:20 p.m. This train becomes the northbound 508, which is...
I won't dispute that there's better service to NYC, but I can find at least three daily bus departures from Allentown to Philly (not one).
They all seem to depart from the same place: the downtown transit center, which I wouldn't call "an obscure bus stop."
Obligatory train content: One of...
