New derailment of freight near Dodge. Amtrak again continues its down grade of the SW Chief by returning passengers back to origin. Another way to implement Anderson's bus??? Certainly will cause some potential riders to not book SW Chief.

If you examine the pictures closely you will notice that the ship is down at the bow. there appears to be a lot of concrete on the bow that will need to be removed to float the ship. That removal will be difficult. Do the salvagers just break up concrete with pieces falling into the channel...
What is needed for Amtrak to meet the cruise market is for the Palmetto to be extended to MIA preferably on the FEC, That would allow for plenty of time to make same day connections to a cruise ship all the way from Melbourne to MIA, But that trip would need many sleepers and that isn't...
IMO what causes AutoTrain a success is that it only takes 2 train sets + spares to operate daily service both ways. As well, just the 2 end stations and the intermediate servicing facility at Florence which also services the Meteor & Palmetto. Almost all of the proposals require 4 train sets...
Is this a 4 or 5 day a week bus sub? Otherwise how will the isolated train set SAS <> FTW get servicing. Know SAS does have maintenance but is it capable to do everything needed for 4 or 5 days?
You probably do not know but for each of these figures what was the train capacity or in the case of multiple trains on a route the total seat capacity? I do believe the Meteor had more capacity in 2019??
In the second photo it appears that the ties gradually getting longer toward the camera was at a CP maybe that was removed? The isolation joint bars may have been part of a CP?
These problems that occur on Boeing planes are being much overblown.
Metal fatigue happens often unexpectedly and business. Wheel bearings have failed just like NS at Palestine causing tire to fail or fall off. Even door have come off although the 2 DC-10s were cargo doors. Wing Slides have...
JIS: A big problem around here is the tree cover. With the elimination of pole line signaling and communication lines the RRs have left trees next to tracks or even overhanging the track. CSX has spent a lot of time of removing trees around their PTC satellite dishes. That said even internet...
"IF" welded rail, no anchors, older ties, not ballasted for welded rail, and add in higher temps . That is definitely a receipt for track problems! Not even all of those need be present.
A while back Amtrak did advertise for some "coach cleaners" in WAS. Now were they ever filled or still waiting for positions to be filled have no idea.
