I’m on The Crescent now in a Roomette in car 1912 and fortunately the train is not a rolling disaster area :D. The windows in my Roomette are reasonably cleanish.

Data point: Bid $140 (only $5 over lowest) for NYP to NOL for a roomette to a bedroom for the May 30, 2024 departure. Bid not accepted as I expected. There was only 1 room available. I did notice bedrooms are now sold out, so either someone purchased it, or "won" the bid up.

Perhaps it will evolve to something more like the Ocean on VIA Rail. Or perhaps they can serve something more like the First Class meals on Acela (some of them are not bad).
I did some math today for cabin on the Canadian and coach on the corridor and it agrees with this. Those numbers must be some of the, if not the, highest point values of any frequency program out there.
The Canadian can indeed be very reasonable when making use of the big sales and off season. I'd be curious to see how the rewards program for Amtrak and VIA play into this. What value would you assign to the points and other perks you might get for each of these trips?
