    VIA New Corridor Trains - 2021 - 2024 Updates

    Great angle.

    VIA New Corridor Trains - 2021 - 2024 Updates

Completely agree. The new charcoal with yellow stripe and red maple leaf, applied to both the Siemens and redone Budds so far, looks great and professional with the new lettering font. I was so hoping they were done with the trendy wraps and mismatched colors.

    Auto Train service expansion?

As a snowbird in a group that has a large Midwest contingent, the destination of choice is the Northwest Florida panhandle, near the Alabama border. That's a full day's drive from the southern terminus of the current Auto Train. Unlike the disaster that is I-95, our group members primarily use...

    VIA New Corridor Trains - 2021 - 2024 Updates

What is interesting is how they've started repainting some Budd cars in the same charcoal and yellow scheme. It also looks classy as they move on from the assorted blues, greens with the phase-out of the Renaissance and LRC fleets. Hoping they follow Amtrak's P42 lead and update some locomotives.

    Tampa Union Station

That's what I suspected, however they'll have plenty of time to work on it given the pace of a new ballpark. ;)

    VIA New Corridor Trains - 2021 - 2024 Updates

As the Siemens sets become more plentiful, here's some footage from a local videographer:

Some downtown ballparks have little or no parking and rely on public transit. Whether that's practical in Tampa would have to be determined.

    Atlantic Coast (Silver/Palmetto/Carolinian) Service discussion Q4 2023 - 2024

That one statement makes perfect sense for "today's" Amtrak. :(

    Tampa Union Station

It has been over a year but the tracks through Oldsmar were still seeing the occasional CSX freight, and the route parallels SR580 including a very scenic crossing of Safety Harbor near the canal mouth.

    Steam train near Chicago 5/6/24?

CP steamer 2816 is currently on tour, travelling beween Calgary and Mexico City, so may be what you saw/heard. It was due into Chicago sometime this week on the original itinerary. No idea whether it is on schedule. https://www.cpkcr.com/en/community/final-spike-steam-train

VIA fare versus Amtrak fare between same city pairs.

As mentioned by a countryman in another thread, VIA has submitted a request for new equipment which was reflected in the proposed Federal budget. However our political system is slightly different than the US: while we do have fixed election dates, the current government is in a minority...

VIA fare versus Amtrak fare between same city pairs.

FYI: The "VIA 2024" code is still in effect, although availability is dwindling.

    VIA Ocean discussion

In the drawing room of a pre-Prestige Park car, such as those used on the Ocean, the one lower bunk drops parallel to the window and would restrict the movement of the wall panel at its one end. The other two bunks are attached to the wall next to the lower lounge.

VIA fare versus Amtrak fare between same city pairs.

That is a far cry from how things used to be for many years. I recall almost abandoning VIA in favor of Amtrak for western itineraries. There were a lot of factors at play however: VIA had slashed service and started the "cruise train" ascent. Trains that weren't overpriced suffered from rundown...

    VIA Ocean discussion

It's not that simple and a good amount of further switching would be required. The consists are currently operating with a baggage car on either end - a Renaissance/transition type on one end and a Budd on the other. This is done to facilitate attaching the locomotives, so have the required...
