I very much enjoyed my ride in Acela first class a couple of weeks ago from Boston to NY even though we pulled out almost two hours late. I booked early enough to reserve a single, forward facing seat and the person in front of me was seated in the same direction though she had someone across...
Because I have a pretty generous voucher from a trip gone awry last spring, I decided I would use it towards traveling First Class in Acela from Boston to NYP this December. I have booked and thought I’d opt for a single seat if possible and looked at the seating map. But many of the seats...
This trip report was extremely interesting and informative. I, too, would like to explore Detroit! Has anyone on this forum taken either the CL or LSL from Cleveland to Toledo, using the Thruway service? I’d never do it if they were Greyhound buses but might consider doing it otherwise...
I do plan to use my voucher. The only other time I did was for a trip which was just two dollars less than the amount of the voucher so it worked out . Does someone here know if you can apply a voucher to a larger cost and pay the rest in cash or points? In other words on a 500 dollar...
And on top of that, I received an unsolicited grant of 250 Rewards Points because the train I took from Charlottesville to DC on Wednesday was 55 minutes late. That didn’t seem too bad to me. After 3 train journeys this week, I did fly back on American, from DC to Cleveland for just 68.00...
Actually, I ended my journey in Philly, not Paoli. But I was so surprised that the bus driver let several people off on a suburban street. Thankfully, no one was disabled. I included those details to convey how irregular the bus trip was. Yesterday, I had a lovely train ride to...
Here’s a copy of an email I sent to Amtrak about travel this past Thursday. Do you think I am justified in asking for a voucher or points:
I had a very difficult trip on April 11. For the first part of the trip, Amtrak was not at fault and the conductors did the best they could when the 30...
Is there a way out of the Amtrak station to get onto Penn? I looked at Google maps for walking directions (morning layover, headed east) to the Westin or Einstein’s, and they put me right on Liberty which is actually a creepy enclosed underpass— ugh. According to the photos there seems to be a...
I’m making this very same connection in early April and time permitting, this would be a fine option for me; Einstein also has excellent breakfast sandwiches. Another train traveler also reported at one time that he walked over to a Westin Hotel for an ample breakfast buffet and he was good for...
Agree with you 1000%. When I lived in the Northeast, I took this train quite a bit and always opted for the Quiet Car when available. I wish more train lines had it.
