I did, but it changed back to the original departure time the morning of the trip. My SCA on the LSL said that it was probably concern about the weather. But it ended up leaving right on time, just as the LSL was right on time arriving in Chicago.
I was just rechecking tomorrow’s departure time for the Illini 393 out of Chicago, and found that the time has been reset from 4:06pm or something like that to TBD (To Be Determined).
Any ideas as to what might be up with that?
I don’t know if this is a fluke or not, but on one occasion I asked my SCA if he could bring something from the cafe car instead of the flexible dining menu, and he was absolutely fine with that. I was able to enjoy Mac and Cheese in my roomette, and no, I was not charged for it. It counted as...
I’m sitting in the Metropolitan Lounge in Chicago, and the Zephyr left here about an hour ago, taking a lot of people with it. So I guess it’s okay thus far.
Is the Metropolitan Lounge in Chicago open until the LSL leaves for NY (hopefully on time at 9:30pm)? And will red cap service still be available then?
Does anyone know why the Texas Eagle left Chicago three hours late yesterday (Jan. 23)? Normally it's right on time leaving Chicago, since that's where it starts.
Yes, but teaching your kids to call 911 in an emergency is a pretty basic thing to do, and everyone needs to know how to do that by the time they're in college, don't you think? Then you call Mom.
I agree that Amtrak customer service didn’t handle it well, but I also think that individuals need to take some responsibility for their own actions. She‘s a college student; she has a phone. Set an alarm on your phone to wake you up before your stop. Heck, she could have called 911; they could...
Hmm ... I may just try to fit a couple of PB&Js into my carry-on. Thanks for the warning! 😄
Not that worried about the time -- I love trains because they are about the journey. And because they don't expect me to navigate an airport and ride in some contraption that flies, but no one can...
I'm happy to say that my bags are all under the required weight limit. I was just worried about adding an additional item. I even measured everything. I have a feeling that on my next train trip I will be a little less OCD. (Said the woman who has already packed for a trip that begins on January...
Thanks so much!
Both of my bags are quite small — a 21” wheeled suitcase and a smaller knapsack-type bag that stacks on top of it. My official “personal item” is a small shoulder bag that holds my iPad and other tech accessories. I think I’d feel a bit silly asking for a red cap’s help when...
I have arthritis in my tailbone (isn’t that special 😕) and need a special seat cushion when I have to be seated for a long time. I’m taking the Texas Eagle from Chicago to Austin, TX, and I want to bring my cushion, but does it have to count as my personal item, or will I be allowed to bring it...
I am taking the Eaglette from Chicago to Austin later this month, and I have a roomette. How strict are they going to be about the size of my carry-on luggage? The two “bags” are somewhat smaller than the size allowed, but the “personal item” is somewhat larger.
