Worked for Amtrak as a kid, 1978-1981. Mostly extra board out of Chicago. In the days when they were JUST outfitting the LD trains with the new Superliners.
Grew up in Ann Arbor, MI. Certainly no "Train-Town". Blame my addiction to trains on my older brothers having Lionel Trains as kids. Was partner in a tourist RR operation (KLS&C Railway, Dinner Train, Scenic Train, and a little freight) in Paw Paw, Michigan in the late 80's, and the EnterTRAINment Line in Maryland.
Like to travel by train, hate bad service and unruly employees.
Tourist Trains/Other: KLS&C, Coopersville & Marne, Potomac Eagle, Santa Cruz & Big Trees, Lahaina, Kannapali, & Pacific, Adrian & Blissfiled, Hobo Railroad, Skunk Train, McCloud River RR, Edaville RR, Berkshire Scenic RR, DisneyLand, DisneyWorld RR, Southern Michigan RR, Henry Ford Museum RR, Gettysburg Scenic RR, B & O Museum, Conway Scenic RR and others.
I like riding trains, in First Class, Sleeper, or Coach. (If just a short jaunt) I expect courteous service, equipment that works, arriving close to "on time", & clean windows. Is that too much to ask for?
