My Lionel O-Scale

I'm only a little into model railroading, but I wanted to display some of my O-scale Lionel set. This set (not all of it is pictured) has been a hand-me-down from generations in my family, and I recently purchased an amfleet car (these are hard to find at an affordable price) to put on it as well.

I know that O scale is not that common any more, but still wanted to share.

What's in the tanker behind the Amfleet car?

A Sonoco car (it also says "Lionel Lines").

Bourbon. It is a hard drinking group in the Amfleet.
Seriously, though, that is a cool set up. I did not know about O gauge. We used to have an HO set that was nice, done by my oldest brother when he was a Boy Scout.

Very cool. I had an O gauge setup at my former house before down sizing. My builder handled all the bench work. My bonus room was 300 sq feet and most of it was the layout. 2 tracks. One was Amtrak and the other freight. Took a year to get it all done making the buildings, trees, landscape etc. The wiring was the hardest ( no talent along those lines ). I do miss it. Still have everything ( except the room ) and set up basic layout in my townhouse living room over Christmas. Enjoy you model railroad!

Yeah, the wiring for O gauge can be a pain. That was cool about the 300sqft room of track though.

At least with 3-rail O gauge you don't have to deal with reversing loops as you do in 2 rail (HO or S gauge)

I have O (Lionel) and S (American Flyer) layouts. All engines are late 1940s.

Very impressive layout there @Joe from PA! I love the attention to detail.

This post has been a few months in the making. Recently, my old locomotive (featured in my original post here) bit the dust and I had to get a new locomotive. There was a train show a few months back here in Columbus and I got a pretty sweet deal on an MTH F59PHI O-scale loco (keeping the Pacific Surfliner livery), but it needed some work. I got the capacitor battery replaced in it and a few other things and also just recently moved my train set to a new host location (my current house does not have space) and I wanted to show off the new locomotive.

For the moment, it is only hauling one car behind as it struggles to do two (possibly because my track is very old) and I wanted to showcase it here with my O-scale amfleet car. I'm continuing to work on the layout here and there as this is a work in progress (I know, not as much detail as the detail in my original post).

A little bit of an update. I had been encountering issues with the new locomotive on the track seen in the above post (tubular track). Keep in mind, the trackage is an heirloom and is quite old. With this in mind, to accommodate the weight and movement of the F59PHI MTH locomotive, I upgraded the track to Lionel FastTrack. Now, the trainset runs much smoother without any headaches.

I also added some other pieces that were handed down to me from the layout as well...

Thanks for mentioning that. I now know why I felt like the CSL car I was trying to sleep on between Redding and Mt. Shasta felt like it was leaving the rails. We were in Rm 1.

So, as commented above, I realized that I ran the trainset a little faster than I should have, so I took another vid of it at a more acceptable speed.

The nice thing about scale-model passengers is they never complain, they never pester Customer Relations, and they never post online.
