On both the Silver Star and Silver Meteor southbound which car is the new car with toilet next to the bed

The new cars (V2) do not have toilets in the roomettes. The old cars, Viewliner 1's have toilets in the roomettes.

Recently, I believe that the 10 cars in both the Star and Meteor were usually V1's (old cars with toilets in the roomettes).

There have been instances when this is not the case, however.

A more detailed discussion of the Silver Service may have found in this thread:

sorry asking about H rooms

The new cars (Viewliner II's), that I believe have the toilet next to the bed, would be the 11 (and 12 cars if there are three sleepers). Visually, they are the cars in the old Phase 3 livery.

Usually, the first sleeper (10 car) is an old viewliner and the second sleeper (11 car) is a new sleeper. However, there are instances when both cars are either old or new.

Sorry for some reason I thought they were talking about the accessible rooms even though it wasn’t mentioned. 😅

sorry asking about H rooms
In the new cars, the toilet in the H-room is not actually next to the bed; the sink is (and even overhangs the bed a bit.) The toilet is on the opposite side of the sink.

Off topic, in the new cars' H-rooms, the seat back, when folded down into the lower berth, will not stay completely flat. To compensate, they are supposed to be equipped with mattress pads that are wedge-shaped (but not always.) Tell the attendant to make up the berth with the thicker edge facing outward, or you will be fighting not to roll out of bed all night!

So, to answer "Railfan's" question, it sounds like the toilet in the V2 H bedroom is closer to the bed, but not right next to it. I looked on Craig Mashburn's website. He has a Floorplan for V1, but states he has not located a good floor plan for V2. The V1 floor plan shows the toilet is in an alcove across from the bed.
