Need advice on Windsor, CT, Amtrak station

I will be visiting my Connecticut cousins at the end of August, and their Amtrak station is Windsor. I can take the Valley Flyer the day I am traveling so can avoid buses, but what is the station itself like during the work going on now on the New Haven to Springfield section?

I’m still using a cane and am a bit wobbly on gravel, uneven surfaces, etc., and also would prefer not to have to cross the tracks or have a steep drop from the lowest step to the ground. My cousin can pick me up at the station, so that part is not a problem.

If it sounds too difficult, I could spring for a Lyft from NHV but obviously would rather spend $9 on the Flyer than a whole lot more on a Lyft.

Currently, from July 8 through August 30th, all trains board from Track 2 at Windsor station. The current work is related to track improvements and station replacement at Windsor Locks, a few miles north, but other than the track change, there are no other changes at Windsor. Windsor has sheltered mini-highs (level boarding) with PIDS and ADA ramps. There is a grade crossing in the middle of the station, but if you'd rather not cross the (albeit level and navigable) tracks, there is vehicle access on both sides.

The eventual plan is to move the station a few hundred feet to the south.

Please be advised there is a new schedule going into effect 8/12 along with weekend changes on several weekends in August and September. https://hartfordline.com/faqs-news/notices/

Just to clarify, this change only affects weekday trains. Weekend trains are not affected.
