That map is also interesting in that the names of Russia and Belarus have been painted out, and by the looks of it some places within Ukraine have been renamed or had their bilingual names removed.Without change, since 2014, the large map shows all of the connections to Ukrainian territories, including those occupied by Russia since 2014.
If the experiences of countries like Spain, Romania, Italy, Croatia, Wales, Ireland etc are anything to go by, bilingual place names will remain points of contention for decades to come, persisting long after other differences between linguistic minorities and majorities have been settled and bridges repaired.
