I was on a Superliner coach with newly-renovated restrooms this week. The handicapped restroom is moved to the end, and now has an automatic door. I didn't take any pictures inside the restrooms, but they are also fully updated inside.

I hope that door is more reliable than the doors on the Viewliner 2 H-rooms, which like to open and close endlessly. The "emergency" handle looks the same as the one on the VL-2, which is too shallow with rounded edges, making it very hard to get enough purchase to force the door open when the motor is turned off.

Looks like a step in the right direction.

I once experienced Superliner coach bathroom where the sink basin was detaching from the top of the counter, with horribly failing adhesive, such that water was splashing out of the sink and down into the pipe/mechanical cabinet below--and when the train rocked and rolled, the water literally flowed over the top of the sink and down into the cabinet!

It was shockingly bad! Just embarrassing. Multiple inch gap at worst between the sink basin and the counter. My most recent (still not renovated) Superliner coach bathroom experience was better, but still terrible overall.

I had no idea they were doing these bathroom renovations, so the first time I set foot in one of these renovated cars I will be shocked with joy! The status quo is honestly beyond embarrassing at this point, so at least they're doing something.

There are/were changing lounges in the coach cars?
I believe they are referring to what was at least originally labeled as the "women's lounge" or some such, which are/were meant for changing/getting ready and irrc have a sink and bathroom stall inside them, in addition to the counter/mirror and maybe somewhere to sit + general changing space.

Thanks. I never noticed the layout downstairs in S/L coaches.

I am not certain, but believe they sacrificed a restroom that was originally located in that space to provide a “dressing room”.

They also added a dressing room to the long distance subfleet of Amfleet I’s, but in this case they just sacrificed some seats or maybe baggage shelves.

They had a vanity, a dinette seat, a couple of stools, and a rest room with a door off to the side, as built. They got modified every which way over the years. I had always thought it would be a good place for a couch shower.

The Bathrooms on the Superliner Is were always a poor design( especially the faucets)with the IIs having much better bathroom design, but the flushing system has always been a problem, especially @ Altitude!

The rehab bathrooms are a big improvement including the Shower having a door instead of a Curtain!

Good riddance to what I called the primping room. The only time I saw anyone in the primping portion of the room was during the middle of the night when I went to use that restroom and there was a young lady trying to sleep in there. I can't remember exactly how she was positioning herself, but it certainly didn't look comfortable. I would have preferred to sleep in a coach chair a million times over how she was trying.

The refurbished sleeper I just rode in on 5 from Chicago to Salt Lake City is an improvement. The temperature dial worked in my roomette. The room was cold when I boarded in Chicago. I set it to the warmest setting and the room was actually too warm. I adjusted the dial and it cooled off to just right. The electrical outlet was not refurbished. It struggled to hold my plug for charging my phone.

Did they actually change anything to the dial, perhaps you just lucked out with one that works? I thought these refurbs were mostly just cosmetic upgrades

She may have been trying to escape a noisy or too "friendly" seat mate.

This reminds me of an experience I had as a teenager on 11. I was fortunate that my father let me travel by myself. I was in coach traveling from Seattle to Sacramento. A man got on in Eugene. He started talking to me. He told me he was a school principal. Then he asked if I wanted an alcoholic beverage from the lounge car. I told him no. He insisted that it would be okay. I told him I had promised my father I would be on my best behavior. He said it would be OK and headed to the lounge car. I got up and found the attendant in my coach. There was one in each coach in those days so I was lucky. I explained what was going on. My main concern was not being caught with alcohol and then getting in trouble for underage drinking. The attendant moved me to the next car. I saw the guy looking for me, but he did not see me. Years later, I realized that this guy was probably a pedophile, and I was extremely lucky to extricate myself from that situation. I think the crew had a talk with him or put him off. I did not see him any more.

Yes, I had things like that happen to me "a lot" (but usually with ice cream incentives rather than alcohol) when I was a kid and even a teenager because I was very small and looked much younger. Fortunately, I was able to extend my understanding of my mom's advice of "Don't take candy from strangers" to be wary of strangers being overly nice to me when I was alone and never did fall prey to anyone nefarious.

Isn't there a couch opposite the sinks (that could be used to lay down on)? I may be remembering incorrectly though...

You may be recalling the old Heritage coaches that had the large lounges…
Never been on a Heritage, unless in a museum somewhere. :)
However, after some searching, I see it was the likely the pedestal stools I found interesting in the powder room on a Superliner coach:

I really liked that room on the coach Superliner so I will be disappointed when they are all changed to be the new handicap restroom. 😞
