    VIA New Corridor Trains - 2021 - 2024 Updates

Unfortunately there is no chance of the railway returning. Too few people spread over such a large island to make economic since.

    VIA New Corridor Trains - 2021 - 2024 Updates

Glad you enjoyed the Newfie Bullet video. The tracks were very narrow that’s for sure. Yes it was about 26 hours across the island. I would love to be able to do that trip today but preferably over 40 hours or so lol. Thanks for the time table image. Interesting indeed.

    VIA New Corridor Trains - 2021 - 2024 Updates

Hopefully they will put up the train speed, distance to next station stop and time to next stop.

    VIA New Corridor Trains - 2021 - 2024 Updates

BACKGROUND I was visiting my son in Ottawa recently and while there I wanted to take a sameday train ride to Montreal. I did a similar trip during my last visit in November and it was a treat. I inherited my Dad’s Railroad genes but never worked on the trains like he did. Our narrow gauge CN...

Maybe someone might know on this thread. I think a second set is on the way or already delivered. I am curious if the first Train Set is 2300 or 2301.

For those interested here is a two minute video of my Feb 28 Ottawa to Montreal return trip on the new Siemens Train numbered 2301. I have more video clips which I hope to put together into a longer video when I get home and have computer access. Hopefully the YouTube link I pasted below works.

Dramatic Scenery on VIA Rail”s “The Canadian” between Vancouver and Toronto plus our 3 Night Stopover in Jasper.

For those who have time on their hands … this 46 minute video is a wee bit long lol but I finally had the time to string together the video clips from Vancouver to Toronto. I included 11 minutes of clips in the middle of this video from our stopover in Jasper. Since I mentioned my previously...

Are Sleeper Class discounts gone for good?

There is no difference. They sell X number of rooms at the discounted rate. When the X number of berths sell out you have to pay the higher rate. Maybe someone on here knows the number for X.

    Park Car Views

After reading about the buffer car attached to the end of Park Car I could not help but look at my video clips and Park Car photos from May. This is what I found. I joined the videos and photos into this 2 minute video. Here is the video link.

Are Sleeper Class discounts gone for good?

That happened to us in May. We were in Car 218 from Vancouver to Jasper. We had 218 booked on the following train after our three day stopover. When we got the station cars 217 and 218 were completely empty. We were moved to Car 212. Prior to boarding I asked if I could get car 216 and they...

Are Sleeper Class discounts gone for good?

I called VIA yesterday for Oct 10 price. They still have discounted upper and lowers. They have 9 lower berths remaining. They also have space in Car 218 which I think means they are running a full consist as during my May trip this was the last sleeper car before the dome, diner and prestige...

Are Sleeper Class discounts gone for good?

Yes most dates only have berths available. Earlier this summer the berths were showing up on the discount page showing great discounts, even in July and August. I figured the same discounts would show up for October and November … but no go the last three weeks. Maybe sales are booming.

Are Sleeper Class discounts gone for good?

The last number of weeks I noticed the VIA website no longer offers select Sleeper Class discounts. The page is still available but no discounts . Anyone here know if this is a seasonal thing?

VIA RAIL The Canadian. Review of Berths, Bedrooms and Roomettes. Vancouver to Toronto May 2022.

Part two. My first video focused on the food this one focuses on Carleton or car 218. This one shows the sections, roomettes, bedrooms, bathrooms and shower. Plus bonus footage of the Park Car. Hopefully this link to the YouTube video works.

Tips for first-timer on the Canadian

We travelled out of Vancouver May 6th and stopped over to hike trails around Jasper for three nights and boarded again on May 10th. On both trains we had juice, fruit, coffee and muffins available to us in the dome car each morning. I would stop on the way to the dining car to grab a big glass...

    VIA tipping

I took the Canadian train last month and only noticed one person leave a tip at one meal. The sever I tipped at the end of one leg of the journey said she would share it with the crew.

VIA Rail The Canadian Video of Menus and Meals - Vancouver to Toronto May 6 2022

We had an upper and lower berth which is a sleeper class ticket. All non Prestige sleeper class pax have access to the Park Car daily after 4 pm from day 2 onwards. So …. it’s a no go for us until shortly after we ate lunch after catching the train in Jasper after our three day stop over. By...

VIA Rail The Canadian Video of Menus and Meals - Vancouver to Toronto May 6 2022

Thanks for watching. The meals were truly amazing. My wife just looked at my video and said maybe I can do the train lol. For those who have cruised with NCL, the food is comparable to the dining experience in their specialty restaurants. There are two full service restaurants onboard. I...
