The CS always seems to be late. I have ridden it a few times between Chico/Seattle and Chico/LA. Since I board/disembark between 2 and 4 in the morning I have always ridden in coach.

When I go to Amtrak Station Status Boards none of the entries make sense such as it being 4:43 and a 7:05 train is boarding. It has been strange for days. There seems to a a problem at Amtrak causing feeds to be delayed. Look at post about Solari Board.

Is the train status at the Amtrak site broken? It will not accept a station when a train number is entered. It works fine when a from and to station is entered.

Was the shelf in the storage area solid or a mesh that a luggage lock with cable could be put through. If solid and you had more than one bag locking them together with a cable would deter carrying them out.

How often have you missed a connection and what did Amtrak do about it? I missed the CZ out of Chicago when the train from Washington was late. They flew me to Omaha to catch it there which did not work out due to other problems. Long story cut short, put up in a hotel in Omaha overnight.

Bags are not locked up or closely watched over. It is just a room to the right of the entry that anyone allowed in the lounge can access.

You can get a schedule with each station stop for a route here: schedules > enter from/to/date > find schedules > select the train> your route appears They are in segments so you have to click "see next x stations". You can only print a segment at a time.

You can't use a shower unless you are in a sleeper. You will have to wash and change clothes in a small bathroom.

I found this image of the CZ. The cars seem to be: 2 engines, baggage, trans-dorm, 3 coaches, sightseer, diner, and 2 sleepers. What is at the end? Maybe I am just seeing something next to the track.
