    Help with Points Breakdown?

Hopefully posting this in the right place! I wanted to share the points that I was rewarded from a recent trip on the NE Regional, in the hopes that someone here can help me understand why I received so many points (I know, awful problem to have, right? Ha)! Definitely not complaining, but I...

The effect of the potential rail strike on Amtrak

Does anyone know when the vote would take place? I assume today?

The effect of the potential rail strike on Amtrak

Absolutely. I’m booked on SS the 17th so I’m definitely glad they’re taking this day by day approach. Fingers are crossed for everyone’s sake!

The effect of the potential rail strike on Amtrak

Silver Star was just canceled for tomorrow. Today’s was canceled around this time yesterday, so it appears Amtrak is just taking it day by day. Like the rest of us, ha.

The effect of the potential rail strike on Amtrak

For those of you in the know regarding various freight rails, lines, services: I assume it’s safe to say the Silver Star would be affected by any strike that would occur? Guessing that route is not entirely Amtrak-run? I’m taking a wait-it-out approach with my current trip booked on the 16th...

The effect of the potential rail strike on Amtrak

I’m in the same predicament, my friend. I spent much of the day yesterday finding and booking a backup flight and hotel that I can cancel up to 24 hours before travel. Now it’s just a waiting game! 😬

The effect of the potential rail strike on Amtrak

I’m supposedly leaving on Friday (9/16) KIN-KIS. My guess is the first leg to NYP will be fine, but Silver Star will be affected. I’ll keep everyone posted here if/when I receive cancellation notice! 😭🤞

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

I have the $79 World Mastercard and these are the benefits listed in my letter. They’ve added a tier for dining, transit and rideshare. However, it seems that the fee is now $99 annually.

    What should Amtrak change?

I’ll be traveling to Florida the week after you so I’ll stay tuned for your report on the flex and cafe food! Thanks!

Silver Star/Silver Meteor combined train (Jan - Oct 2022)

Oh, ok- apologies, as I completely misread your original post on the topic! I thought you meant the 3rd sleeper car, not the 3rd VLII. Meaning I thought they got rid of the 12 car.🤦‍♀️ Haven’t had my coffee yet! Haha.

Silver Star/Silver Meteor combined train (Jan - Oct 2022)

Me too! I’m in 9112 (which is 3rd sleeper, correct?) on September 17th. I keep seeing the dreaded “Changes will be made to the travel…” when I click on the details of the trip in the app (for 2 weeks it has said this), but everything is still showing the same as I booked it. I have called Guest...

    Charleston, SC to NYC

That’s a tough one. In a normal world, I’d choose the Meteor despite the extra cost just so I could do most of the trip overnight (vs during the day on the Palmetto) and get a decent sleep. However, as someone whose September Meteor trip was just canceled, I completely understand the risk. 💕 I’d...

    Question re itinerary/connection/layover in NYP

The Fairfield is definitely closest…I also stay at the New Yorker (Wyndham) sometimes and the price is comparable. It’s one block away on 34th and 8th.

    Question re itinerary/connection/layover in NYP

Good point! I learned this quickly on my first trip on the NER (from RI) after Moynihan was built. Went up the first escalator I saw, along with 95% of the crowd, and ended up in Penn. Now I just keep walking on the platform toward the front of the train until I see actual signs on escalators...

Silver Star/Silver Meteor combined train (Jan - Oct 2022)

Great to know; thanks! I’m in no hurry once I get off the train so I absolutely will check them out.

Silver Star/Silver Meteor combined train (Jan - Oct 2022)

I also switched to KIS, just to check it out-I always do ORL so I'm curious!

Silver Star/Silver Meteor combined train (Jan - Oct 2022)

Same here! I waited awhile, but it was pretty seamless once I got someone on the line. I am originating from KIN, so I technically still have the option to do same day and transfer to 91 in WAS...but with only a 37 minute layover I don't want to chance it. Also switching at NYP instead saves...

Silver Star/Silver Meteor combined train (Jan - Oct 2022)

Oh wow! I’m also booked on 97 Silver Meteor September 17 and it’s still showing in my account! Didn’t receive any notification from Amtrak. Guess I’d better call…thanks for the heads up!
