I got caught up in this mess, as I was scheduled to travel on 161, OSB - WAS that Saturday. Through a combination of luck and experience I managed to get onto 99 and get into WAS 'only' 2 and 3/4 hours late. (Which was actually really good considering a trespasser was also struck by a SB train...

IMHO: This 'test' service is just Amtrak trying to put a :) over the fact they screwed up, as some of the heritage diners are in too dire a shape to last until the new diners come on line.
