    Southwest Chief discussion

Here is a timetable for the Southwest Chief that shows connections for getting to the Grand Canyon. https://juckins.net/amtrak_timetables/archive/timetables_Grand_Canyon_20230702_external.pdf

    Heartland Flyer discussion

Whatever you decide, let us know how it works out and what you think of the Heartland Flyer. I rode it OKC to FTW about 8 years ago and enjoyed it. There is some nice scenery along the way. Thumbs up for the on board cafe, too.

    Amtrak Price Tracking Tool

Sounds encouraging - maybe you and RailForLess could make it a team effort?

Rail for Less: a fare checking site

I like this a lot - nicely done and definitely a very useful tool! Thanks for your hard work.

    Unofficial Amtrak Timetables-2022

Honestly, I think it's just incompetence, lack of attention to detail and little or no accountability. Apathy too...

Amtrak long term service cancellations and restorations (2022-2023H1)

4 Acela sets had to be pulled from service due to inability to get them fixed - they are being used for parts to keep the other sets going. Regionals are trying to make up the slack but there is not enough equipment for longer consists. This report from a manager at Amtrak who was VP of Ops...

    Acela 21 (Avelia Liberty) development, testing and deployment (2018 - 1Q 2024)

Have a great trip - it is a wonderful place to visit!

    Acela 21 (Avelia Liberty) development, testing and deployment (2018 - 1Q 2024)

A friend of mine at Amtrak says end of 2024 for the new Acelas in revenue service. I guess nothing in the US goes fast in terms of rail (literally and figuratively). I just got back from Taiwan and they have a wonderful rail system, including HSR, with rolling stock in excellent shape.

    Atlantic Coast Service discussion

FDOT deserves an award for their patience dealing with Amtrak.

✈️ US dominates World's Busiest Airports list for second year running

I live in Atlanta so I'm stuck with Delta and the ATL airport. I feel like Delta service overall is pretty good, but of course they have their ups and downs. I also feel like the airport runs pretty smoothly, unlike most city services around here. The amount of passengers it processes and the...

    Ethan Allen schedule change

Use station code RUD for Rutland and code BTN for Burlington. Amtrak has made a mess of multiple station codes for the same cities.

Runway Incursion and near miss at JFK

It seems like a 25-hour voice recording is a no-brainer, but government doesn't move very fast. Another thing that would be nice, but probably not enough bandwidth right now, is to have airlines upload their lat/lon coordinates to The Cloud via satellite at least every 5 minutes, so we don't...

    Booking online on Amtrak website

I checked Amtrak this morning and tickets for Cary are working for 3/11. So who knows what happened.

Thank you for pointing that out...good to know.

    Booking online on Amtrak website

Not ideal, but could you buy a ticket from the previous station, which I think is RGH? I will see if I can ask a friend of mine who works at Amtrak to take a look. I couldn't buy a ticket from ALX on #66 last summer due to a problem in ARROW due to human error, which they fixed.

NEC overnight and late evening service

I have found that looking 11 months ahead can have some unusual things in the Amtrak schedule - I think it's too far ahead in time to get worried. But, who knows.

What does Amtrak do for non-guaranteed connections?

Paper (PDF) schedules are on RPA website or mine at Amtrak Timetable Archives - Home

    Unofficial Amtrak Timetables-2022

Correct, and I created some of them. 😁 Anything posted to RPA I also post to juckins.net - so either page will have the latest available versions. As Jis said, Amtrak is slow to release new data sets and they often have discrepancies in them. We clean them up as best we can with the limited...

    Unofficial Amtrak Timetables-2022

Look for the "Carolinian/Piedmont" for NYC to Charlotte, and the "Lake Shore Limited" for NYC to Chicago. Rail Passengers Association has timetables in addition to juckins.net - that link is Amtrak + VIA Rail Timetables | Rail Passengers Association | Washington, DC

Business class on NER 66, 67

Look at the Virginia schedule: https://www.railpassengers.org/site/assets/files/20928/virginia-services_1_17_23.pdf I see we need to add the overnight run on the DC/Boston page, so that is an oversight on our part (who make the schedules). Did I mention Amtrak does not make it easy to create...
