    Xpress West

You hit the nail on the head. Most of this is just noise in the signal so to speak. The Chinese (and XpressWest) are not so stupid as to create incompatible systems and then try to use this system as a selling point for other systems in the US. Besides, it would be an obstacle to be overcome...

    Xpress West

I saw this info on the CHSRA website right after they occurred. These items don't show up in any of the Authority archives. Mack was on the agenda for the Jan. Board meet in to make a presentation.

Not to mention that Desertxpress/Xpresswest COO met with the CHSRA board in January and signed an agreement a couple of months later. Edit - they met with the Board in September and remarks indicate they continue to meet.

Inward Facing "Cab Cameras" to be installed

Inward Facing "Cab Cameras" to be installed

Metrolink installed the inward camera a couple years in response to the Chatsworth accident. So the use of them is not new. I don't know the rules or procedures that go with them, but haven't heard any kick backs on their use since they were installed.

    Pacific Surfliner 769 Hit Tresspasser

Yesterday about 1:30 north bound Pacific Surfliner 769 hit and killed a trespasser at Desoto Bl. We were on the south bound 784 and were held up for about 1/2 hour as three north bound trains that were stopped passed. I find it very surprising that I could only find one paragraph from the...

Real story behind the demise of America's once-mighty streetcar

This analysis jibes with what I know and with my personal knowledge of the streetcars. Once inexpensive (relatively) automobiles showed up, passenger traffic on the streetcars went down and pretty drastically. The fabled RED cars in Los Angeles and the other companies went bankrupt and at...
