I live in CLT. I liked it when 20 hit around 230am. That would put us in PHL or NYP around noon, give or take. However given the constant holdups between NOL and ATL made on time reliability into CLT painful at best. Then the schedule changed. Things improved somewhat. However it never failed...

Here's the current availability if you get on in RGH to get to NYP. The additional Piedmont we added earlier this year has made doing a day trip from CLT to NSF more doable by train.

NC State Fair NSF October 14th 2023. Coach sold out between CLT and RGH. RGH to NYP has plenty of coach availability. We are traveling that day from CLT to NYP in Business Class. Booked a few months back. We didn't pay $600 for our tickets.

As long as people have the wherewithal to pay those prices, they will remain high on popular, scenic routes. Even if the rolling stock was available for additional frequency, my spidey sense tells me the prices wouldn’t change much on some routes for sleepers.

All you can do is try. With that said the Silver’s are popular routes. Many people with the wherewithal ride those routes in roomettes and bedrooms. But you never know, you might get lucky. If you make a bid, just make sure you enter the largest amount you can handle. Good luck.
