    Amtrak Timetables

Thanks for calling this out - yeah, single man show right now (me) - so I get to them when I can. It's unfortunate that Amtrak updates the GTFS schedule data every single day, so we can only create the timetables as far out in time as the source data permits. Sometimes it's valid for months and...

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

http://statusmaps.com/ goes to Dixieland, for example these links do show all the stations: https://dixielandsoftware.net/cgi-bin/gettrain.pl?seltrain=40&selyear=2024&selmonth=11&selday=13 https://dixielandsoftware.net/cgi-bin/gettrain.pl?seltrain=41&selyear=2024&selmonth=11&selday=13

Amtrak IT Dept problem, they know about it.

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

The truncated route shows up on Amtrak's own Track-A-Train so the problem is their data...but let's be honest, are you surpised? 😅 Their IT department has room for improvement.

MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) discussion

Wow, nice. I have done similar but not taken the subway from South Station. MBTA does not charge you to transfer from the Silver Line to the Red Line?

    WiFi on longer routes

I had this happen to me years ago when Sprint was still around. I explained I was on the train and they dropped my roaming charges. Not sure if Verizon would do the same for you.

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

Thank you for that - I forgot to make it a sleeper/baggage train. Correction attached.

Here is a PDF for all y'all. Let me know of any issues with it.

    Amtrak partners with Google

Classic response - totally incompetent. And I agree with your explanation.

    Amtrak Timetables

This is a great list of resources. Correct, RPA timetables are powered by Amtrak's GTFS data. Unfortunately there are a lot of bugs and errors in their dataset, and they are unresponsive and obviously do not care to fix them.

    Amtrak partners with Google

This effort of Amtrak partnering with Google is quite amusing. We who work with RPA to produce the PDF timetables discovered a bug in the GTFS data - more than a year ago - where the schedules for multiple trains are incorrect. They leave on the wrong day. It is because Amtrak does not use...

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

A test booking for Wed Nov 27th out of Miami has interesting results on the #40 Floridian. You can go to Washington DC for $134 or all the way to Chicago for $113. I thought it would have been more expensive to travel a longer distance.

Little incursion into Ukraine Summer '24

This is an amazing write up - what a journey! I love all the pics, especially street scenes of Lviv. Ukraine is on my list to visit someday.

    Amtrak Voucher questions

For a regular sim, I have a 3 UK one that I was going to use back in May for travel through London. That trip got canceled but I already had the sim. So I activated it and it worked perfectly here in the US. I was chasing the solar eclipse and wanted a 2nd cell phone for data. If 3 UK offers...

    Southwest Chief discussion Q4 2023 - 2024

Here you go, I'll ask RPA to get these posted. There are only 2 of us trying to maintain these schedules; Amtrak has an Army of people with billons of funding but apparently it is too difficult for them to run a python program using the data they create and publish. June 23 June 30...

    Empire Builder discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

I prefer the dining car, too, so I would opt for #8. You will get a dinner that way.

    Southwest Chief discussion Q4 2023 - 2024

It is frustrating to all, but if the tracks are blocked I don't think Amtrak has a lot of options. Do you think they should do something else in this case?

    Amtrak Timetables

NEC timetables have been updated (with mileage) - RPA seems to be having an issue getting them posted but here is the latest. NEC is subject to frequent changes and tweaks.

Progress on my printable timetable generator

Old thread but new update...most of the timetables now have mileage on them. That has been a very frequent request. You can get them from RPA's timetable site as well as my Amtrak timetable archive. Note, the NEC timetables change continuously, so as soon as you create a timetable it's...
