Upcoming Amtrak LD Schedule Changes (2021)

Thank you, chrsjrcj, for making that updated Crescent timetable. It's now part of the Amtrak Timetable Archives....your work is very appreciated!

    Amtrak booking website/issues/timetables removed

A friend of mine works for Amtrak in ops and he's quite senior. He asked the group in charge about the timetables and he said "It's not looking good - they cut that job." He thinks RPA is the best hope to change things. I called RPA and the representative (Harvey?) said they would raise...

Before someone says that query from ATL to KCY is too difficult, here's an easy one for the Crescent. Still no luck.

I tried it yesterday and forgot to mention it failed miserably. Attached is a screenshot - the same error as you.

Thanks. Regardless of how the data is stored, retrieved and presented it can obviously be done. The hard part seems to convince them to do it or get RPA after them.

    Amtrak booking website/issues/timetables removed

Reading this thread, and that Facebook thread, is extremely aggravating. Does someone really have to hand-hold their IT department and teach them how to pull info from a database and reformat into table form? If they are currently overworked updating timetables as claimed in that FB thread...

    Amtrak booking website/issues/timetables removed

Well isn't that an interesting little gem. I will contact RPA again next week and ask them about it. I will also call Amtrak Customer Relations. It's a little aggravating we have to beg for updated timetables, or timetables at all. Also, making the National Timetables PDF is easy - all you...

    Amtrak booking website/issues/timetables removed

I noticed Amtrak Cascades has an updated PDF timetable on their website, effective May 24, 2021: https://www.amtrakcascades.com/our-train-schedules I did phone and write to RPA/NARP requesting they ask Amtrak about the PDF timetables going missing for some routes as noted in this thread. Also...

I'll also keep Amtrak Timetable Archives - Home updated as best I can. I did like Amtrak's page that had all the PDF timetables together....one-stop shopping.

Yeah, I was looking for them too, to be sure I hadn't missed any updates for my archive. I have PDFs available at: Amtrak Timetable Archives - Home

Upcoming Amtrak LD Schedule Changes (2021)

I am "sort of" OK with lengthening the schedule if the train runs more on time, but I doubt NS will actually handle it any better. It's sad some of the freight RRs can't handle just 1 train in each direction, but I digress. I'm more disappointed they made #20 leave 2 hours later from NOL...

    AmSnag Oddity/Status

I think this is just a tough nut to crack - I do know the data can almost certainly be gathered since it appears in the web browser, but making it automated, reliable and decently fast is another matter. Too bad Amtrak just won't change their web display to show a fare calendar view like the...

Upcoming Amtrak LD Schedule Changes (2021)

Zephyr17 beat me to it, but "ASMAD" can give you some historical info on connecting trains. You just need the arriving train #, departing train # and station code. Here is the link: https://juckins.net/amtrak_status/archive/html/connections.php I am also disappointed with the Crescent...

    Online Schedules

ASMAD is a great tool, but I couldn't do it without Amtrak Status Maps, and Amtrak's Better-Track-A-Train also fills in data. Team effort! :)

    Online Schedules

I keep a running archive of the PDF schedules Amtrak posts to their website: Archived Amtrak Timetables (ASMAD) As far as I know my list has the last-known updated PDFs, including current tri-weekly and the daily versions before COVID.

Is Amtrak Limiting Queries On Arrow?

Not a problem for ARROW, no. But they may limit what they consider too many queries to their website fare lookups, which could indicate some kind of auto scraping.

Is Amtrak Limiting Queries On Arrow?

When I looked at coding automated fare searches to resurrect Amsnag, I got that message, too. So I suspect their system is flagging too many queries in a certain amount of time.

    AmSnag Oddity/Status

Hello, it's not the algorithm. Amtrak makes it very difficult to scrape their website using automated software. We have tried multiple ways of extracting the fare info in a reliable and consistent manner, which has not worked despite many hours of trying. Maybe someone should write Congress...

Amtrak 64 (Maple Leaf) Dwell Time

niemi24s, thanks for the link about the pre-Covid timetables. I did not know they were around. I keep an archive of recent Amtrak timetables on my ASMAD website.

    Track a train

Just to confirm, Amtrak's Track-A-Train is down and so that affects Amtrak/VIA Live Map Unfortunately Amtrak doesn't seem to give this data high priority for fixes or reliability. Not sure why.
