Bus from Albany Amtrak to airport?

Does Amtrak run any service to Albany Airport? If not, why does it count as a “stop”?

    Amtrak Siemens Charger locomotive (SC44, ALC42, ALC42E) (2015 - 1Q 2024)

How'd they settle on the name "ALC-42"? The A and the 42 are obvious, but what's the LC?

Canadian peak vs off-peak pricing and Corridor connections...

I learned from this video that at least in 1994, Amtrak referred to them as Roomettes on the Heritage sleepers (accurately), and as Economy Bedrooms on Superliners. Something odd I noticed is that though "Jim" states later in the video that the then-upcoming Viewliners "will have Bedrooms and...

    Sightseer Lounge Orientation

I just looked it up and there are 25 Superliner I and 15 Superliner II SSLs. So, putting aside the particular routes certain types are generally found on, you on average have a 62.5% chance at getting a SL-I, and I guess a 31.25% at a Superliner I SSL oriented the way you want it. :)

Getting to San Clemente from LAX

But won’t it be cheaper to buy Surfliner tickets ahead of time? And coach on the Surfs is unreserved, so so long as he makes the connection to one of them, he’ll be all set.

Viewliner II Part 2: Dining Car Production, Delivery, Speculation

Viewliner Is have seven Roomettes on that side, because the SCA has his own room (making 13 total) On the Viewliner IIs, the SCA’s room is where (revenue) room 12 was, and the two shared toilets are where the SCA was. Therefore there are now 6 Roomettes on that side. On the other side of the...

Suggestions for Amtrak traveling in Michigan?

I saw a lot of Middle Eastern food in Detroit as well. Is that just the power of suggestion or does Detroit also have a high number of Arab-Americans?

Have to emphasize the Henry Ford Museum. My cousin got married there and it was so cool. :)

Two tickets, two segments, one train?

No rules prohibiting it, however the savings generally are relatively minimal due to Amtrak pricing through tickets lower than multiple segments. And remember that while a Roomette is great for sleeping, you also get all your meals included during day travel.

Canadian peak vs off-peak pricing and Corridor connections...

Promo code is VIA20, and is listed here. Definitely seems much more expensive than those standard Sleeper Plus deals.

    How safe are America's railroads?

Plane rhymes with train. Sue me. :)

    How safe are America's railroads?

It doesn’t matter what you “envision”. What matters are the numbers. As seen here and on many other pages, there were 0.43 deaths per billion passenger miles by rail in the U.S. from 2000 to 2009, as opposed to 0.07 deaths per billion passenger miles by air. That’s a pretty clear discrepancy.

    Amtrak FY 2020 Budget

Wow, that’s terrifying. This is the first time I’ve seen an official document explicitly stating that the plan is to eliminate LD rail service. I really hope this isn’t the end of the Amtrak I know. :(

There’s the buffet area, and then a few feet past are those dividers. Unrelated.
