I recommend taking the NB Starlight from LAX since you'll have the Coast around Santa Barbara, and the Horseshoe Curve as you go into the Mountains in daylight. Also from Mt Shasta in N California to Portland will be in Daylight if the Train is running close to on time!

In all the years I rode the Cap Ltd I usually found the OBS Crews to be ruder and less helpful,than most of the other LD Trains!

Glad you enjoyed your brief stay in Ft Worth and had a nice trip on the Eaglete.( a Sightseer Lounge and Traditional Dinning would make it alot better). The 2 Roomete idea is 1st Rate ! If you return, yall should visit the Stockyards, the Museums, the nice Water Gardens close to the Station...

Lucky you, but then you don't live on the NEC,or ride Surfliners South of LAX. ( especially during the Racing Season and Comcon in SAN)

As one who experienced the SP Automatic Biuffet Cars and the Fresh and Contemporay Meals, along with the Flex Variations, Id say all 3 were Subpar! 😉
