Depending on the route you're looking at, some of those "sold out" trains might have had one or more of their usual sleeping cars removed. See other thread currently buzzing with accounts of this.

In my experience, it can take weeks for them to reply to an email. Sometimes the reply is on-point and satistactory, sometimes not so much.

Well, then maybe they should maximize privacy in those seats. Even airplanes have armrests separating passengers. Lack of that on an overnight train is a deal killer for many travelers, especially women. I don't see the option of allowing passengers to buy two seats as being incompatible with...

I've been trying to book the Cap Ltd from Chicago to Washington in mid-November (well before Thanksgiving) and found roomettes persistently high-priced even though the train was listed as only 10% sold. I ended up booking the Cardinal for $130 less, although I'd prefer the Cap's earlier arrival...

Please send a note to Amtrak Customer Relations. They won't know unless you tell them, and letting them know is helpful to the rest of us.
