    Texas High Speed Rail

Good point. Who says the line has to be electrified. CAHSR is apparently holding off catenary and going Hydrogen FLIRT trains. No reason why a capable company like Brightline could not resurrect the project and drastically cut costs.

Thank you for your replies, you have been very informative. Why shorten the San Joaquin to Merced? What are the future plans for Surfliner equipment?

Rumors about Amtrak move to the MIC at Miami International Airport

3.6 instead of 6 miles, thanks for the correction. At least the pax will have easy access to rental cars at the end of their trip.

https://www.railwayage.com/passenger/intercity/california-orders-29-hydrogen-trains-for-inter-city-services/ So the San Joaquin's FLIRTS will not be the same as the ones seen such as in Austin, or Ft. Worth Texas.

Must go with the rumor the San Joaquin will move to the new CHSR line. Hate to be in a FLIRT hitting anything at a grade at 79 mph. Read to save money catenary will not be used at present, so using H2 propulsion would save money for the project. Wow, a short four or five year run for the Siemens.

Rumors about Amtrak move to the MIC at Miami International Airport

So Amtrak is going to a 6 or 8 mile backup move everyday, and four times a day from MIC to the yard? Ok then.

Future Amtrak Equipment and ADA ideas

With strong rumors that the LD replacement fleet may be single level, and most likely Siemens. Here is the new Gen NightJet made by Siemens debuting in Europe. Notice at 1:13 the new "mini suites", to me looks like the Slumber Coach of the 21st century.

Short lived? FLIRTs for the San Joaquin? Why? So going from bilevel to FLIRTs?

Thanks, now I have a certain Eagle's song I can't get out of my head.

    Amtrak delays

Not sure why the SWC is incurring so many delays. It runs on mostly double track main with fast intermodals.

    Amtrak delays

https://ridetrinitymetro.org/webcam/ You can see the Texas Eagle sitting in FTW already turned to become 22. Waiting for buses from SAT. The TE is sitting further down the track to make room for Heartland Flyer when it arrives and so the Flyer can move to the holding track when finished unloading.

    Southwest Chief derailment (June 2022)

What an odd way to move a Superliner on a flatbed. 80 or so tons on a highway.

    Southwest Chief derailment (June 2022)

On trainorders they are stating they are moving Superliners via truck. I guess BNSF did want to clog this important rail highway with damaged Superliners being towed to a siding.

    Amtrak Siemens Charger locomotive (SC44, ALC42, ALC42E) (2015 - 1Q 2024)

Pretty sure the plan is to retire the P42s. After 30 years of hard service, and millions of miles of 80 mph running, the Genesis will go down in Amtrak history as one of the best locomotives they had, besting the famed F40s. The ALCs not making much news is good since they are running on the...
