    Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2021 - 1Q 2024)

Just as the first gen Acela equipment changed the NEC perception and market share for good, this new equipment may do the same.

    Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2021 - 1Q 2024)

Ironic, Amfleet was designed to mimic an aircraft cabin and its replacement is called "Airo".

    Amtrak public Board Meeting (12/1/22)

Apparently Amtrak had a board meeting a couple of days ago per TrainOrders.com. Some in attendance spoke of a Q&A session, in which the topic of LD trains came up. Did anyone here listen or watch the meeing? Could not find it on Youtube. Gardner handled himself very well from what I read.

New Gulf Coast service (New Orleans - Mobile and Baton Rouge)

The combative CSX CEO Forte is gone and replaced with a new CEO trying to shore up ties with the STB. Go back and watch Forte's demeanor during the STB hearings, it got personal.........and entertaining to watch. Maybe this is the kinder and gentler (yeah right) CSX.

    Northeast Regional discussion 2022-2024 H1

Is Amtrak running extra sections on the NEC? One would think Amtrak would want a bigger slice of the travel pie on a weekend that many say will surpass pre Covid.

    Amtrak payments to host railroads

Unless the 'agreement" have teeth its worthless. And so far Congress and the DOJ has not instilled the fear into the freight railroads of operating Amtrak correctly. The only way to get the Freight Railroads attention is with money.

    Amtrak payments to host railroads

I would love to know what percentage Amtrak pays to BNSF compared to JBHUNT or UPS for a Z train. That will determine how well a train is handled across the line. If the DOJ gave Amtrak priority status some teeth, then LDs would operate more on time. If Amtrak can get a consist ready to leave on...

Long Distance (LD) fleet replacement discussion (2022 - 2024Q1)

That would make sense, the auto carriers used are captive, why not the pax cars. And order enough for three full sets. For the times when a late Auto Train cannot be turned in time.

Of course not, but the basic car is a possibility.

Long Distance (LD) fleet replacement discussion (2022 - 2024Q1)

And while Amtrak is at it, come up with new sleeping car products. A 21rst century Slumbercoach. Something more premium than a coach seat yet does not cost a left kidney for a First Class Bedroom. Would be a good opportunity to rethink the LD train consist. Should have more sleeping cars with...

    Sunset Limited discussion

Who is actually doing the 45 minute inspection? The same thing happens at Tucson, the train can be 3 hours late but it sit at at TUC for the whole hour. Refueling is done at most 20 minutes. But it sits. I do not see mech personnel doing the inspection at TUC, so I ask, who are doing these...

    Amtrak California equipment

Posted this video on the high speed rail part of the forum. Two years old and the Agency that oversees ACE and The San Joaquin trains is being interviewed. Interesting points.- 1. 60% of San Joaquin travelers connect in Barstow to the Thruway buses. Explains why the Thruway bus system is so...

    Texas High Speed Rail

Yes it is. There was an article, apparently now removed that stated the Amtrak SQ was going to use the completed portions of the CAHSR. Its now removed. Now I guess the plan is to meet at Merced and change trains. There was another article that stated to save money on CAHSR construction there...

    Texas High Speed Rail

I should have clarify the FLIRTS, which are replacing some of the San Joaquins which will be using CAHSR track. They may not have posted a profit but at least they have moved dirt and have a track record of completing projects. The whole building rail projects without government help is a...
