This is Labor Day so what are the chances that train maintenance might be lightly staffed today?

But some of us vocal people are not Texas folks. The Eagle is a long trip to take without the amenities it used to have. The Capitol and the City of New Orleans deserve better amenities but they are relatively short hauls compared to the Eagle.

I cannot find the actual arrival time of this train on the Amtrak train status cite or on the privately run Amtrak train status archive site. Maybe it is still on the road and hasn't arrived yet. Maybe Amtrak is hoping that no one will notice.

I see that 8(30) is operating 13 hours 30 minutes late due to an apparent locomotive breakdown near Ephrata, WA. Arrival in Chicago is expected to be 2:39 a.m. Sept. 2. There is a discussion on another list that Amtrak no longer has a spare locomotive at Spokane. Not sure how long that has...

Possibly by calling it the Eaglete, some thought they were honoring the French history of the region through which the train runs by giving it a French-sounding name. But in that case I guess they should probably call it "Le Petit Aigle."

Due to the loss of the sightseer lounge and the dining car (with traditional dining) the Eagle is not considered to be a fully adult long distance train.

I don't believe there has been any further news. I would also not believe any generalized statement coming from Amtrak. If they announced a specific Month, day and year that traditional dining was to be restored, I might put more faith (but certainly no money) on that. In the Fall of 2023...

Two months of substantial cancellation of trains 448 and 449 from Sept. 1 to the end of October. No guarantee of any Albany - Boston express busses as a substitution. Just sad. With all of the months of cancellations of these trains over the years, I would think that the "necessary" trackwork...

This is Amtrak. You can pull just about anything there. Rules and consistent service mean nothing except when they provide an excuse to cancel a train outright.

In my experience I have found the reverse to be true - that the in city locations are cheaper than the airport locations although their hours can be limited and some are not open on weekends.

So if I understand correctly, on the 421/422 days there will be additional capacity on the Eagle over the present capacity. And with all the added capacity, I am sure that fares will be significantly reduced on those days. (Surely I jest.)
