When was the last time Amtrak procured cars and put them into service based on the original timeline? Viewliner 1? Superliner 2? Regardless of whose fault this particular problem is Amtrak has an abysmal record/luck with acquiring new cars.

Why do you feel the need to hold water for Amtrak? Most people can rationalize stuff happening but they can’t rationalize poor customer service. It’s easy to be flippant on this board but most people don’t have the in-depth knowledge or experience with Amtrak that is found here.

All the South Florida Amtrak stations are on the mainland, across the Intracoastal from the beaches. In Miami the L bus route runs directly from the Amtrak station to Miami Beach. I am not sure about local transit connections at the other South Florida stations.

I understand what the original order is for, I do not understand what the option is for. Does the state really need 300 some cars to cover the New Haven Line expresses and the branch lines?

In another change, Amtrak has started selling tickets on SLE as part of connecting itineraries from New London heading south (west). They involve a connection in New Haven and are priced slightly more than a through Regional. I have never seen this before.

I also rode the Sunset from Miami. Back in 1993 or 1994, I can’t remember which, my dad and I did a trip around the entire country. We took the Sunset from Miami to LA but had to be bussed from Jacksonville to New Orleans due to wildfires somewhere along the gulf coast.

Two direct airport buses that I have personal knowledge of are in Boulder and Boston. In Boulder I rode a coach style bus directly from the downtown bus terminal to DIA. In Boston there is a service called Logan Express that runs nonstop from suburban terminals to Logan.
