448 and 449 - CLE to BOS to CLE

Several people brought pets on and were letting them play out of their carriers. I don't think staff even knew since they were just hanging out in the Cafe car. Panorama = Pandemic

448 and 449 - CLE to BOS to CLE

My husband did cause he's that guy. I will call them in the morning Monday and complain. Thank you all for at least making me feel like I'm not just being a pain and that this really wasn't correct. I'm on here pretty much daily and I knew what I was getting into. I think since it was my...

Lake Shore Limited and Empire Builder from NYC to Portland with Glacier stop

Sounds like we would be good friends. I don't find many other women my age excited about trains! I also have a Texas Eagle trip coming up in January! Glad your trip was so relaxing!

Can I hop on a stop later?

If you're on the NEC that's usually fine.

448 and 449 - CLE to BOS to CLE

Oh yes...However I promised a friend in Austin I would come down so that's the only choice since I'm not currently flying. Even better the Crescent is in Feb/Mar. So, I am picking all the winners now. LOL I'm not sure what I would say. Everything worked and I got what I paid for, I guess...

448 and 449 - CLE to BOS to CLE

My husband and I were on the 448 in Roomette 5 on 10/3 - We were the only sleeper passengers getting on in CLE. Our SA, Ray, was nice when we got on, and told us when breakfast was. He did have us wait in the Cafe for him to set up the room for a few minutes, but then we were on our way. I...

Tracking coach cars reductions from pre-COVID

Currently on 449 and it was still 2 Boston today and eastbound on Monday.

    LSL consist, Sleeper and crew

I really have to say, the crew on this train is amazing! If the rest of the company was like them they'd be in a whole different place.

    Bid Up questions and experiences

I tried to Bid Up from Roomette on tomorrow's LSL to BOS. At $285 I didn't get it. Also only one sleeper so I'm sure it was already booked. It was worth a shot for my husband's first train trip.

    LSL consist, Sleeper and crew

I'm excited for this since I've never travelled with someone on a train before. It's always been solo. Thank you all for confirming what I thought. Hopefully this goes well and we can do some longer western trains soon. (Fingers crossed.)

    LSL consist, Sleeper and crew

Well, I keep hyping my husband up as it's an adventure so it should be an interesting trip! We get on at CLE so I'm sure we'll annoy everyone in the car right before they want to wake up. Love the timing here! LOL

    LSL consist, Sleeper and crew

Does anyone know if the Boston sleeper is still directly behind the loco? And to get to the diner, is it halfway through the NYC cars? I'll be on it next week. It's my first trip since the pandemic and my husband's first trip ever. I just wanted to have some idea what was to be expected.

    Amtrak features and comfort updates

These now control the speaker in your room for the announcements. That being set to 0 is probably why you didn't hear anything in your room.

Auto Train Questions (car alarms and other vehicle issues)

No cars are locked on the Auto Train. If your car's alarm arms while your car is unlocked or your car auto locks with the key/fob in it, you need to bring it to the dealership because there is something super wrong with your electrical system or computer.

    Amtrak delays

Thank you so much for that reply. I had no idea that it wasn't enforceable before!

    Amtrak delays

Maybe I've missed something somewhere. Amtrak by law has the right of way over freight regardless of who owns the track. Correct? Then why isn't there an uproar from Amtrak execs about constantly being hours and hours late due to freight? How is Amtrak benefiting by running late consistantly...

    Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad

Oh no! That's terrible! I haven't seen any of that myself. If I did, I think I wouldn't volunteer, there anymore. >_< I haven't gotten to start training as a trainman yet, but I should have time coming up. I honestly hope that I don't see that.

    Auto Train Room 14

That's completely wrong. If that were true, you couldn't have a roomette with the number 14. The layout I posted is for the type of car you will be in. Some people seem to be confused.

    Auto Train Room 14

Here's a layout of the car. You'll be downstairs. I haven't heard of any sleeper cars being removed from the Auto Train. It's kinda Amtrak's favorite thing (besides NEC obviously.)
