Amtrak stations within a mile of a Casino? (w/real dice Craps)

How about Texas Eagle to CHI and then CL to WAS followed by NER to PHL and then NJ Transit Atlantic City Line to Atlantic City?

A Flâneur in New York (and a bit of New Jersey) via Amtrak in COVID mode

Great trip report! Makes me nostalgic for the Amtrak trips I have taken. Also reminds me of the NYC trips I take by myself. Walking around the city, visiting a bookstore, railfanning and getting something to eat is what I do on my trips to NYC too and I love doing that. Interesting to see...

Amtrak Lackawanna Service and Lackawanna Limited (Includes Empire/Massachusetts Service updates)

As someone who lives in Northeast PA, I would love train service like this in my area. Frequent service to New York City and an LD train to Chicago? Yes!

Thinking Back to the Last Time I Rode Amtrak

When I say that the NER or Vermonter is like a commuter train I mean that the majority of the passengers seem to be business people. They tend to spend their time on the train working on their laptops or talking about work. There is obviously leisure travelers on the northeast corridor trains...

Thinking Back to the Last Time I Rode Amtrak

After thinking back to my first ever Amtrak trip, I have decided to think back to the last Amtrak trip I took, which was in the summer of 2019. This was also something I meant to write, but never got around to until now. Like my first trip, this trip would be a round trip from NYP to BAL...

Thinking Back to My First Amtrak Trip

I previously mentioned that I had never been to the Amtrak section of New York Penn Station before, but I forgot that I had actually been there around 2012. I was reminded of this, while looking through old photos tonight. I ended up in the Amtrak section of Penn Station while looking for the...

I look forward to reading your trip report.

Thinking Back to My First Amtrak Trip

I had intended to post this a long time ago, but never got around to it. I felt like sharing my first ever ride on Amtrak when I rode the NER round trip from NYP to BAL in the summer of 2018. I don't have Amtrak service where I live and if I want to ride the rails I have to take a bus to either...

How do feel about riding "Coach" ?

I road overnight coach back in 2018 on the LSL from NYP to CHI. My experience wasn't that great. Looking back I should have brought a travel pillow and Dramamine. It was late October and the heat was cranked up, so that didn't help matters. I should have brought a t-shirt and shorts to...

Is Overnight Business Class Better than Overnight Coach?

If I'm on the westbound LSL I would either do it NYP-CHI like I did last year or SYR-CHI. I did a test booking on Amtrak's desktop site and I saw that if I selected multi-city I could book NYP-ALB on 49 in Coach and then ALB-CHI on 449 in BC. I remember that last year the system wouldn't let...

Is Overnight Business Class Better than Overnight Coach?

Yes, Chicago would be my destination. I would love to see more of that city since I didn't get to do too much there last year. I'm not sure when my next my Amtrak trip will be, but I like coming up with trip ideas. I rode in coach last year NYP to CHI on the LSL and it wasn't the greatest...

Is Overnight Business Class Better than Overnight Coach?

Hello all, I was just curious if, for trains such as the LSL or the Cardinal, riding in business class for an overnight trip would be better than overnight in coach? Thanks in advance.

Do you go out of your way to ride a particular train?

“Do you go out of your way to ride a particular train?” I have to go out of my way to ride any Amtrak train. Three hour bus ride just to get to an Amtrak station.

I'd love to take Coach on an Amtrak train BUT...

I slept in coach last year and it wasn’t the greatest. Got like two hours of sleep. If I did it again I would bring a neck pillow and Dramamine. It was October and the heat was cranked up really high, so I would bring shorts and a light weight t-shirt and change into those before bed if...

Question about missed Hiawatha connection at Union Station

The Hiawatha has peak ($28) and non-peak ($25) trains on weekdays. The peak trains going to MKE are at 3:15 pm and 5:08 pm. The tickets for the non-peak trains won’t work on the peak trains. 11:05 am and 1:05 pm are non-peak, so either of those two times would work for you.

frost-bitten on the SWC in July in NM, AZ, and CA

I was on the LSL in October last year and it was uncomfortably warm. I Should’ve packed a t-shirt and shorts.

Roomettes Now Available for Sale On the NEC

Well this is a surprise. I’m almost tempted to upgrade to sleeper for my trip to Baltimore just for the heck of it.

    New York Route Help Please

Only thing I can think of is if you stay overnight at Albany (LSL) or DC (CL/Cardinal) and continue to NYC the next morning on one of the corridor trains if you want to arrive in New York in daylight in the fall.
