Nice to know. I have always thought the staff inside the Amtrak station in NO to be very nice, doing all they can,,each time I have been there to accommodate.Magnolia has never been anything special and being in NO I thought it would be.Keep us posted on your journey

Nice deal on that sprinter. We have friends trying to rent a sprinter here in Baton Rouge in late August to drive to SC to try one out, but they are impossible to find. They are nice looking passenger vans

What trains do I need to ride to experience this?

Definitely Crescent back the way it was, I did have to leave Baton Rouge early to get to NO but arrived at a decent time in NJ for daughter to pick me up

My experience, my hubbie and I were on the train from Hammond to Memphis, train had accident right outside terminal, we had to wait hours for whoever that comes to clear the train and see the accident, hubbie said never again, but we had train tickets back to Hammond, recently he told someone...

So glad to hear a good comment about the Crescent also, just waiting a little longer til I ride her again.

For me, I have not had a rude person in the diner but it seems the sleeper attendants have changed, not rude just not attentive and maybe they have a lot more work to do. They have been young so maybe so maybe they have not been seasoned yet.

Ok, I’m not trying to sleep with a stranger, if I wanted to do that I could sleep with my husband, lol, just joking!!!! Especially these days sleeping with a stranger sounds dangerous, they could be the mad smasher of NO lol. Seriously I don’t think I could do that but to each his own

Everyone has a preference, but if a bedroom is reasonably priced, I book that especially for overnight going from NO to New Jersey, but Amtrak now price bedrooms like they are 5 star hotels without the amenities.

Personally even when I’m traveling alone I prefer a bedroom but they have gotten so expensive, I have tried a roomette 3 times , twice by myself and once with a friend( she overpacked and we were miserable with luggage). They have always been for long day trips, I think bedrooms all the way now...

Wow everyone all very good ideas that will help keep me organized on my next trip, the only time I get nervous sleeping on the train is it seems at night they go faster and the train sometimes feels like it’s coming off tracks. Do they speed up at night?
