Pennsylvanian (the train(s) and route) discussion

It doesn't invoke fond memories for rail fans but I'm betting Amtrak revives The Three Rivers. Or something with Allegheny in it.

Pennsylvanian (the train(s) and route) discussion

Last I saw it's considered a done deal with an agreement with NS for $200 million of upgrades to the line, earliest start up in 2026. Not sure any actual work has begun on the infrastructure, however.

Certainly, at Philadelphia, this is what she could have done.

AGR FNBO Credit Card discussion 2023 H2 -2024

I have had nothing but positives to say about FNBO customer service. Unlike BofA, with which I could be on hold for 15 minutes or more, FNBO typically answers within moments and each interaction has been friendly, helpful and efficient.

Right, we hadn't moved yet. Though as soon as she pulled it, we did lurch back a few feet which seemed odd. I'm thinking the engineer tried to accelerate at that exact moment but was prevented from moving forward.

Pennsylvanian (the train(s) and route) discussion

Some excitement on the train Saturday: waiting on departure of 43 in Philadelphia, which was moments overdue, a middle aged, slightly grey haired woman came running into BC in a panic, screaming "Emergency! Emergency!" Tried unsuccessfully to exit the front entry door to the platform which had...

    Northeast Regional discussion 2022-2024 H1

My memory is not strong enough to remember in detail. Thought about screenshots but they might have detected that and I didn't have much time to complete it. There were a lot of questions. Many were the usual demographic ones and also a few to get a sense of one's experience on the NE...

    Northeast Regional discussion 2022-2024 H1

Received this survey today, offering 25% off a future Northeast Regional or Acela trip. Haven't seen this referenced here, but maybe I missed it. Good timing as I am currently on a NE trip. It is a fairly deep dive and requires every bit of the 20 minutes requested, done right. They present...

40K points for FNBO Preferred Mastercard

I was rejected, because it was flagged as a "double account." I had cancelled and paid off the balance a week prior and everything had posted.

    Major platform work at Lancaster.

    Planes overhead

I use this app as I live directly under a frequently used approach path to PIT. It's interesting to note where these aircraft are coming from.

East of Mississippi Long Distance (LD) trains 2024

I sure wish they'd get it going. I'm going out east later this week, so hoping to find evidence of any work commencing.

    Northeast Regional discussion 2022-2024 H1

I don't have an issue riding backwards, but I know some do. What's interesting to me is that so many people talk about how Amtrak needs to be more like European trains, Now they have it and they don't like that idea.

40K points for FNBO Preferred Mastercard

I cancelled my card last week and rolled the dice and reapplied today. I was surprised that it told me I would have an notification of decision within 2-4 weeks. I am used to very prompt approval. Hope I didn't kick the trip wire.

Pittsburgh Light Rail Upgrades Kicking Off

The Mon Incline has its issues now. It was closed last year for several months for rehabilitation. Obviously that didn't take as it has shut down suddenly a hand full of times since. It is down again, seemingly for an extended period of time while they hire more consultants to figure it out. The...

San Clemente landslide affects Pacific Surfliner 1/24/24

Or a complete reversal of climate change inside two years and that, unfortunately, ain't gonna happen. Meanwhile we spend untold billions on mitigating what 100 years has wrought.

Long Distance (LD) fleet replacement RFP discussion H1 2024

This is why I am determined to take one last trip on The Canadian before those go away in a few years. Given what happened last year with the use of the buffer cars, even temporarily, I fear they could be lost sooner than later.

No, that line has been closed to regular service for a good 15 years but is maintained for situations like this. It is a neat change of pace for a few trips but adds a great deal to each trip, especially if used in both directions as much of the line is single tracked.

Amtrak Dining and Cafe Service discussion 2024 H1

Mainly a gut feeling. The Capitol is one of Amtrak's lowest ridership overnight trains. Some here seem to enjoy the race to the bottom, but I believe this train is lower on the priority list than the Texas Eagle. Maybe down the road if the Capitol has it's full contingent of cars back as...
