Amtrak #6(12), already running eleven hours late from an engine failure at Sacramento, apparently hit a vehicle at Galva, Illinois last night. The train arrived in Chicago at 7:10 this morning.

Good news. Amtrak #6(30) is the first Zephyr back through Omaha since the water started rising. It is also traveling three hours late due to flash flood warnings earlier in Nebraska.

#6(23) has skipped Omaha having going straight from Lincoln to Plattsmouth. Looks to have made up an hour as well.

I caught AMTK 361 and 359 today as #6(21) made its station stop at Ottumwa, Iowa. The train was running about two and a half hours late.

Another AEM-7 has made it to a museum. AEM-7 917 was delivered early this morning to the Danbury Railway Museum in Danbury, Connecticut. It will be on public display Saturday during an open house. The museum is raising funds for a cosmetic restoration.

I found a couple videos of the test runs. This video by benchedthatpiece shows just Piedmont equipment at Sanford, North Carolina. Harrison0124 Productions posted a video taken in Aberdeen with an Aberdeen, Carolina, & Western full-length dome car as the first car.

Several local news stations covered the first runs in fact. Here's one from the Twin Cities. A local La Crosse station had a reporter on one of trains for the reporter's first ever train ride.

SantaFe669 posted a video with both Borealis trains. Westbound is at the start and the eastbound is at 3:00. A local Milwaukee new station had a story that started with the new train and continued with efforts for more.

And now High Plains Model Railroad Club posted a video from today of a BNSF engine with a buffer car and a BNSF inspection car leading what I'm guessing are the cars that have been waiting near Keenesburg.

Amtrak #7(19) left Chicago today with the consist for the first eastbound Borealis on the end to be dropped off at the Twin Cities to be in position. This combo train was caught by RailfannerGuy13 at Golf, Illinois. kschmidt626 also filmed this Empire Builder at Milwaukee.

There's a report from last month on another website (login needed for full-size photos) from a person that flew over the site that states that all of the train's cars and engines were still stored on the tracks of an oil facility that was next to the location of the incident.

I've found two videos of a cab car test train posted today. One is by Marcel Hall at Martinez. This one by AmtrakFan15 was taken at the Berkeley station.
