164 was the second unit on a #6(18) that traveled through Iowa to Chicago today. It was not the same #6(18) that originated in Emeryville on Friday due to mudslides in Colorado.
This California Zephyr later got caught by a defect detector and had to set out a coach with a hot bearing at...
I caught Amtrak #5(09) this evening with the private varnish pair of Pacific Home and Pacific Island bringing up the markers. These two were seen on the Lake Shore Limited earlier this week.
Amtrak #6(04) will be arriving in Chicago later today with F59PHI CDTX 2007 behind the P42s. This Zephyr was just under six hours late out of Ottumwa, Iowa.
For some reason, the California Zephyr has been leaving Chicago with all the Superliner cars in reverse order. This started earlier this week. So it wasn't just this train running like this.
Illinois has now switched to working with Metra to bring passenger service to Rockford over the Union Pacific. Here's a map for it. I hope it's not too much to hope for that Amtrak would also work to restart the Black Hawk and restore service all the way to Dubuque on the Canadian National...
I caught AMTK 336 and 335 on #6(30) running over three hours late east of Ottumwa, Iowa today. One thing I noticed that I hadn't in the videos above is that there was an extra sleeping car on the end of the train.
Amtrak #6(30) made its departure today with brand new Chargers AMTK 335 and 336 along for the ride. Sky Rider caught this California Zephyr as it headed eastward past Hercules, California.
It was later caught by KJW at Suisan City.
Two more videos posted from Jamesy8444 at the site of the derailment. In something I didn't know would be done, a Caterpillar front loader is first seen pulling and then pushing No. 300.
Jamesy8444 uploaded two videos from the derailment site today. First one is of the contractor Hulcher unloading side boom cranes.
The second one is of those cranes lifting Charger 300 back onto the tracks.
Amtrak #5(19) left Chicago with an odd consist yesterday. The cars were a baggage car, a transition dormitory car, a sleeper, a diner, a sightseer lounge, two coaches, and a second trans dorm.
Turned out to be three cars. I caught #5(09) with Salisbury Beach, Super Dome, and Berlin. Looked like the entire consist of the Zephyr was in reverse order so the transition dorm connected to the PVs. The train stopped here for a bit because of a dragging equipment report from a defect...
#6(26) dropped off the two Chargers in Denver where they were picked up by #6(27). I caught this train running two and a half hours late east of Ottumwa, Iowa. This Zephyr was led by P40 816 and P42 56, so there were three different models of Amtrak diesels on one train.
The Benkelman Post and News Chronicle posted on Friday =AZW5ElaCazIHUiIfGEMR9uCV88n4g1EJFn6_n1Vf1vCoBw3l8k64xjyzKNpdxM6BBq8CoJdhj-CjEQX-GZaLVKlSU6LWaO3pQ78SXQW-QRq1YX0PGHQOfH7Ytk623yHpmg2R4HVd9-Sxy6LJCnSJSSUr6QHSLJjxZu1563RYtM4my3238AAb-NE939wH1hXa6PY&__tn__=%2CO%2CP-R']of a railroad bridge near...
Flooding last week took out a bridge or two in Nebraska. The first two trains detoured across Nebraska. Then #5(27) and #6(26) were annulled between Denver and Chicago.
Seems there's a complication for #6(26) and its Chargers.
"As of 8:20 am ET: Due to severe weather conditions along the route, California Zephyr Train 6 which departs Emeryville (EMY) on 5/26 will terminate in Denver (DEN)."
Amtrak #6(26) is taking the new Chargers AMTK 332 and 334 on its journey to Chicago. Sky Rider filmed this California Zephyr in California.
Adam Ghimenti filmed it in Sacramento.
