I caught Amtrak #6(30) leaving the Ottumwa, Iowa station just before noon today (Sunday) with P40 824, P42 4, ALC-42 315, ALC-42 317, and ALC-42 316.

The first westbound California Zephyr back running has the private car Dagny Taggart on the end. I caught Amtrak #5(16) Friday evening running on time east of Ottumwa, Iowa.

I found a couple videos of the rerouted Empire Builder from Saturday. West Cascade Rail caught it in Tacoma. BalloonBugle88 filmed it at Vancouver, Washington.

AMTK 309, which went west a week ago in service on Amtrak #5(27), came back today as the third unit on #6(01). I couldn't tell if it was still running or deadheading.

Since 184 went west on #5(28), I was expecting it back yesterday on #6(31). Instead it came back through Iowa today on #6(01). It was also the second of three engines this time.

The Chargers are replacing the Genesis P42DCs and P40DCs, not the Sprinters.

Going back to Friday, this video by Bobby Harvey Video Productions starts with some personnel looking over the ALC-42s during the stop at Omaha. Yesterday, Chicago Line RailfanProductions caught 313 and 314 continuing eastward on the Capitol Limited through Chesterton, Indiana.

AMTK 309 got turned right around to stay in service on the California Zephyr, although it's trailing a P42 now. As reported elsewhere, one of the locomotives of Amtrak #5(27) had engine trouble. So, the train was an hour and a half late when I caught it coming though Iowa just before dusk...

AMTK 184 has returned to the lead position and is heading back west on Amtrak #5(22).

I caught 184 as the second of three engines leading Amtrak #6(19) in Iowa today. It had been seen as the first of two last night after having left Denver.

I caught Amtrak #5(20) in Iowa this evening running with three private cars on the end of it. They were the Pullman Pacific Home, Blue Ridge Club, and the dome car Northern Sky.
