    Extended stop in TX

So if I'm riding westbound from NOL to LAX, I would want to book the SL option to avoid having to get off in SAS, right? And I would have to get off the train if I pick the booking that shows a transfer to the TE at SAS? Amtrak's website doesn't spell this out anywhere unless I'm just missing...

    Extended stop in TX

For the uninitiated, what is actually happening here - is the SL being transferred completely to the TE, resulting in only one train moving on to LAX? Why does the booking system show two options for the same departure day (one that is entirely train 1 from NOL to LAX, the other train 421 SAS to...

    Crescent Delays

Yeah, I'm not sure. It was bizarre that it needed to be done then and couldn't be done in 30 minutes when they disconnected the engines at WAS. But, there's probably something I don't know about why it was done there.

    Crescent Delays

On yesterday's 20, we were already running about 2 hours late, then stopped outside of Alexandria for 20 minutes to upgrade the engine's PTC software. That was a new one. Probably not caused by NS, though.

Any Luck Getting the AGR Credit Card Fee Waived?

I've never had any luck with BoA waiving AFs. Other issuers yes, but not BoA. I'll be trying when it comes up for renewal in a few months, though.

    AGR Status and Marketing

Yep, I have the BoA card, so 4,000 TQPs of what you need for the first jump comes from that. I guess I'm wondering about the next 5,000 TQPs.

    Acela Assigned Seating Experience

I'm curious about the economics of a status run, especially with what I presume to be an expensive ticket. I'd like to get to SP, but getting the next 5,000 TQPs from Select would be tough. Are there any bonus opportunities? This may be better for the AGR forum.

    WiFi on trains?

Yep, just chiming in that we rode the Silver Meteor a couple weeks ago and the WiFi was quick and surprisingly reliable. Didn't try to stream so I can't comment on that, but I was able to browse online any time I tried and there was very little lag. Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk

    91(5) and 53(5) Delays.

Looks like trains are having issues at NYP, maybe. 19 was 1h45m late leaving. 97 as of right now is estimated 2h30m late. Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk

    91(5) and 53(5) Delays.

We are boarding 97 this Friday... Safe to assume there will likely still be delays? Hopefully it'll clear up a little by then. Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk

    WiFi on trains?

Crescent WiFi was surprisingly good from what I remember last year. You won't be able to stream though. Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk

    Cancelling the AGR World card

What about sleepers, does that give any extra TQPs? Or just BC? Appreciate the pointers!

    Cancelling the AGR World card

Can I ask how you've gotten to Select Plus with the card? I know $20,000 spend gets 4,000 TQPs, so another $1,000 Amtrak travel gets to Select... But wouldn't you need $5,000 more Amtrak travel to get Select Plus? Or are there other ways to get TQPs? Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk

    amtrak humor

Recently we rode the Northeast Regional and stopped at Newark Airport. The conductor announced it and said, "Newark Airport. If you really want to get off a train to go to an airport, there's one here." Upon arriving at Penn Station, something along the lines of "We have arrived in beautiful...

    Work at New York Penn

I'm curious why the Crescent is the only train terminating/originating in DC, and not the Silvers/Cardinal. I'd imagine there's a reason, but that in particular piqued my interest as a one-time semi-frequent Crescent rider. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

Service dog stops on Crescent from New Orleans to Washington

I've been on the Crescent several times and I've never had the engine change in DC take any less than 20 minutes, even when we were running late. However, if by some chance you're early (which does happen often on the southbound train), they will stay in DC until the scheduled departure. I've...

Crescent roomette Hattiesburg to DC and back?

We actually haven't moved through too much bad weather, just some rain. Currently, we're sitting at Meridian, MS and were told we will sit here for another 30 minutes at least on orders from Norfolk Southern. The problem is, every time we've ridden this train, we've been late. It's never on...

Crescent roomette Hattiesburg to DC and back?

I'm envious of your trip. We rode train 20 on 12/22 and were an hour and a half late getting into NYP. Currently we're sitting on 19, trying to get to Hattiesburg, and pushing 3 hours late. I just hope we make it home soon. Like you, I think I'm done with Amtrak at this point.

Proposals for Restored Gulf Coast Service

http://m.wlox.com/wlox/db_345521/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=yAtXcNRw Sounds like 4 coastal towns are getting money to start repairing/upgrading their train stations, so that seems like a great first step. I can't speak to the others, but the station in Bay St Louis was renovated a while ago...

    Newbie questions :)

I've traveled the Crescent a few times the past few years, and the southbound has been 1-1.5 hours behind each time. Kind of funny it worked out that way for us every time we traveled. It must have been karma, because we were also always a few minutes early arriving in NYP on the northbound train.
