The only practical day trip on the Crescent is from the north turning at Birmingham. The layover there is about 2 hours. No real opportunity for a day trip from the south.

My experience is that the coaches tend to be cool regardless of the season. You may have to bundle up, but folks usually travel better in a cool car.

Having had several meal in the 8400, I can tell you the menu is the same, the crews are the same. The only difference is that the car is more spacious.
