Auto train derailment south of Deland 3/26

It's ok Penny. At least you got to see it and hear it. Unfortunately, not everyone as understanding and wants to weigh in on the situation: 🤣 ;) The auto pain will turn north prior to Plant City but if it makes you feet better, the lite engine that is leftover from the tow move may pass...

Auto train derailment south of Deland 3/26

Coming by WPK. It is closing to 4 miles. If I'm reading this correctly, you should see an engine, the car carriers, the passenger cars with two engines on the rear.

It is definitely heading your way. It is by Longwood. I would think 15 mins or so.

Auto train derailment south of Deland 3/26

That is when it started doubling to its car carriers. It is still on the outskirts of the facility. I'll let you know which way it heads one way or the other.

So far, it looks like it is detouring. They're making it up.

    Amtrak trains without Conductors?

As they were never dual certified, you obviously thought wrong. You are also wrong when you say most engineers are promoted conductors.

Silver Meteor to terminate at Jacksonville in 3/29

It has nothing to do with the quarantines. It has everything with the derailment which is still causing issues. I'm not a New Yorker but I'm there enough to think they'd have this response to your dig:

    Amtrak trains without Conductors?

First of all, it wasn't an Amtrak rule. It was a practice that was based upon the applicable operating rules of the various territories Amtrak operates on (GCOR, CSX, NORAC, NS etc.) Secondly, this question is no longer applicable since CFR Part 242 was introduced in 2012 as Amtrak engineers...

So much for years. You may have your shot pretty soon. Well, you took northbound pictures. How do southbound pictures grab you? Monitoring.........

Auto train derailment south of Deland 3/26

It just went by KIS. You have a shot. I'm monitoring.

Auto train derailment south of Deland 3/26

It is south of DDE so I estimate LKL around 915ish. Assuming it has a clear shot, it would hopefully hit your area around 11p.

Auto train derailment south of Deland 3/26

52(27) and 53(27) are canceled. This shouldn't be a surprise as they tend to knock both trips out when they need to balance out the sets. When is the next time you'll get a chance to see the northbound Auto train passing through your backyard? It may not happen again for years. It may be...

Auto train derailment south of Deland 3/26

It'll stay on the old Wildwood subdivision until it gets to Lakeland and heads north on 92's route on the Lakeland subdivision until it joins the A-line to SFA.

Are California LD Trains in Limbo?

As posted in the main thread, it would likely take the federal government to step in and stop Amtrak from operating because operating in emergencies is part of its mission as per the CFR that authorized Amtrak. However, the states could seal off the operation within their state and as listed...
