New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

Interesting to see. Tonight (11/12)'s #41 had a superliner deadheading on it - not in revenue service.

    November 40% Flash Sale

I was able to utilize the sale. The way I had to do it is not be logged into my Amtrak account when booking, and just to log into Amtrak account while confirming the purchase. All is resolved.

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

Just saw it pass Chesterton, IN's cam. It's pretty long, too.

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

Unfortunately, the Plant City railcams have been down since the last severe storm in FL. If it helps, RailStream's Rocky Mount, NC camera will see the NB Floridian at around 11A EST tomorrow.

    November 40% Flash Sale

Yeah, it was weird. I could see the sale prices on Friday, but cannot see any sale prices now. Per the website, I am still within the date range to book, and I see the sale still offered. I will contact Amtrak CS by phone and report back.

    November 40% Flash Sale

Has anyone been encountering issues with utilizing the 40% flash sale today? I was reviewing prices on the Amtrak website yesterday (Friday, November 8th) and I was able to see the sale applied to various routes, but today, I'm not seeing the discount applied to any routes now. According to the...

Ohio finally starts the process for new Amtrak service

That is correct. There are tracks located under the convention center (CSX and used by the Ohio Central RR as well). I have driven there a few times as it's about 30 mins from my house and I was curious to see what was still there. Here's a view of the tracks of where the station used to be...

    Cardinal discussion

So, I drove down to South Shore last night to watch the Cardinal come through, and I saw that it had some additional cars on it. Usually, the cardinal is two coaches, dining/cafe car, sleeper, and bag dorm, which it did have, but at the end of the bag dorm, it had another sleeper, and then two...

Ohio finally starts the process for new Amtrak service

I'm starting to picture Columbus having both a horizontal / north-to-south service (3C+D) and a vertical / east-to-west service (Indiana to Pittsburgh) service running through here. As much as it sounds so good, I'm not sure it will actually happen. I constantly daydream about this though.

    Capitol Limited discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

It looks like tonight's (10/7) #30 out of Chicago had a transdorm and a horizon car deadheading; however, the horizon car looks like is in revenue? (from the lights on and especially with a link from the transdorm car) I'm assuming to help bring equipment for the upcoming Floridian route?

Ohio finally starts the process for new Amtrak service

I saw this article a few days ago and loved it. TBH, when I want to head to Chicago via train, I always head up to the Ann Arbor station from here in Columbus. It's a 3-hour drive from me, and well worth it due to the CL and the LSL (from either Toledo, Cleveland, nor Elyria and Sandusky) not...

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

So, will the Capitol Limited and the Silver Star names still exist? Or will they be both be fully overwritten with the Floridian name?

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

With this happening, I'm assuming that the route will have amfleets or horizons as the NY tunnels will not be able to accommodate the CL's superliners?

    Lake Shore Limited discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

I haven't watched the Springfield, MA railcam that much lately as I used to, but when on it today watching 449 go through, I noticed it had two horizon cars (I'm assuming deadheading and not in revenue). Not used to seeing horizons utilized in that part of the country. It was also cool to...

    New member to Amtrak Unlimited

I'm glad to see that 301 made it to your list :D My favorite engine (as I'm sure you can tell). I track it like crazy on railcams and on the HU website.

Pennsylvanian (the train(s) and route) discussion

I was on the Pennslyvanian this past weekend to take my PGH-HGD that I take every few months and I see that the Huntingdon platform is getting a makeover. The platform (which always extended past the shack) is getting a little bit taller (seen below). This will be great as getting off the...

City of New Orleans (train) discussion

I've been noticing that it has changed as well and now watch the railcam it passes earlier for it now as well. Any reason for the hour earlier departure? I'm assuming trackwork down the line?

Pittsburgh Amtrak Station past, present and future

I took my every-few-month trip on the Pennsylvanian earlier this morning and I saw that the construction has been completed on the station end of the platform. It's a stairway that heads down to ground level. I'm unsure if that mens the platform can be publicly accessed outside of the...

    Empire Builder discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

I saw via railcam earlier today that my favorite engine (301 - Day 1 livery) was leading on 9/1's #7 (shown below). It's always cool to see this leading on the Empire Builder...

    Amtrak Siemens Charger Locomotive (SC44, ALC42, ALC42E) (2Q 2024)

Yesterday, I saw that 301 (my favorite loco) was leading on #29 from DC to Chicago (which travels through the north part of Ohio). I drove two hours up to Elyria to catch it stopping and passing through. I know that it's been pretty active over on the east coast over the past few weeks, but...
