    Empire Builder service disruption

I saw that via a capture from RailStream (below) that it went through Oregon, IL, which Amtrak never goes through there. From the TransitDocs graphics above, as well as the TD info that I just pulled, it looks like it goes through the stops from WI to IL, but just severely delayed? I'm just...

    Empire Builder service disruption

I'm hoping so. I'll check back towards the end of the week. I'm assuming this is also impacting the Hiawathas?

    Hi Shoreline Easterners :)

What routes have you taken so far, along with the routes that you are interested in?

    Empire Builder service disruption

Just curious, would there be any chance of this issue being resolved by this weekend? I'll be in IL this weekend and was hoping to do some railfanning on that line (around Glenview) to get #7 or #8 passing through.

City of New Orleans (train) discussion

#59 has a double lounge cars again tonight. I'm pretty that trainset has been having these cars since Tuesday's post, but I just haven't had the chance to watch online). So, it looks like this is going to be a norm for a while.

City of New Orleans (train) discussion

I saw via railcam that #59 tonight (6/27/23) had two lounge cars. I know this was probably to help with the length requirement for CN's line, but it was pretty cool to see. A win for the passengers too!

    Longest Amtrak Empire Builder

Agreed with the great catch! It was interesting to see the EB without 301 on it; however, I'm assuming it's on the EB from the other direction. And yes, very long trainset for the EB (which makes sense with the three chargers).

Pittsburgh Amtrak Station past, present and future

For when I drive there to take 42/43, there's a parking garage right across from the station (right above the Greyhound station). I find it really convenient so that I don't have to play hunger games with parking around the city with metered parking. I usually take advantage of the $5 on the...

On tonight's #4(25) while watching it on the Fullerton railcam, I noticed that there was a horizon car possibly deadheading in front of the baggage car. Was this put on there to accommodate more passengers, or just simply deadheading without any use? (Just curious)

Amtrak or Transit related YouTube channels and videos

I'm a big fan of Thom's channel as well. I subscribed to his channel not too long ago and he provides great Amtrak content! I also like his channel with the Chicago-based Amtrak content (as I'm big into Chicago Amtrak as well). I'm looking forward to seeing his NEC content too. I appreciate...

Great to have you, Earl! What Amtrak routes have you taken so far? Any from within Illinois?

Pittsburgh Amtrak Station past, present and future

I did notice the upgrade in signage during my trip from PGH to JST last year. The new signage looks great and updated. Have the signs below been there for a while as well, or are these an addition with the new signage? (I actually noticed this in my recent trip on the Pennsylvanian back in...

    Capitol Limited discussion

Upon looking at the railcam at Chesterton, IN tonight (6/15/23), it looks like #30 tonight is back to usual trainset (coach, cafe, sleeper). I'm assuming the makeup of the one with the loungecar was a one-time thing? I've also viewed the railcam at Shenandoah Junction, WV, and it looks like #29...

    Capitol Limited discussion

Upon reviewing the railcam at Chesterton, IN tonight, I saw that the #30 headed to DC (6/14/23) had the lounge car added to the end and included the cafe car as well. (Plus, the phase III leading unit)

So, I saw that the SWC #3 headed into LA today (6/14/23) was approximately 8 hours late and had a BNSF leader. Per the reports on the AmtrakAlerts Twitter feed, I saw that it encountered unexpected trackwork along with mechanical issues as well.

From what I've been seeing, the CL has had the three cars above (coach, cafe, and sleeper) for some time now. I've been seeing on online railcams that sometimes, it will include four cars, but that is a rarity. I'm hoping they'll add another coach car in the future with the CL being such a...

    Employee praise

When I submitted praise for Amtrak staff a while back, I received a notification a few weeks later that the feedback submitted would be applied to their file, as well as provided to their leadership. With this in mind, I'm pretty sure Amtrak and the staff in question's management has received...

While online railfanning tonight and watching #30 (Chicago-DC) pass through Chesterton, IN, I noticed that there was a lounge car in the mix. I'm not used to seeing that on there.

Cool to hear on your report while on board the SWC. Sorry to hear about the cafe car experience though.

Hello ! New Member taking California Zephyr

Welcome to the forum! I haven't taken a long-distance cross-country Amtrak trip since I was a kid (it was the CZ), and that trip was my most memorable train experience, and got me into trains from thereon out. I'm excited for your trip on the CZ as well and please let us know how it goes!
