Yep. It looks like it, especially with them being unique with the UP lead. @Steve4031 I appreciate the update. :)

New Venture Cars To Chicago Today? (3/27/23)

It looks like Chicago received some new venture cars today? I'm assuming they are headed to the Amtrak yard there. Seen using the wye on the racetrack in Chicago.

    New OBS Member East Coast

Welcome to the forum @MisterDriver ! Great to have you! Also, great to have an employee of Amtrak active on here. I know that you said OBS, but what will your primary role be? It's always awesome to hear your goal of being a conductor as well. Do you know yet of which routes you will be...

Ashland is great for railfanning (and also has a Virtual Railfan camera set up at the station ICYDK). They also have a big train day where lots of railfanners from around the region meet up as well.

Welcome Rick! Glad to have you. I know that the line you are on sees a lot of Amtrak action (like you said), such as a lot of NER trains and the Auto Train as well. What a great line to be on for Amtrak action! Please also feel free to post more photos of your Amtrak findings in the Rail...

City of New Orleans (train) discussion

I have noticed that #59 out of Chicago has been leaving approximately 1.5 hours earlier than it usually does. Previously, it has left Chicago at 8:05P CST, but now leaves at 6:30P CST. Just curious, is this a permanent schedule move? I'm assuming this has been done to accommodate more CN...

    Following Anniversary Engine #184

According to another poster from RailStream seen on the MH Tower camera (seen below), along with a report on HeritageUnits' 184 page, 184 no longer in Phase IV livery and is now Phase V.

    Hello from Southern Idaho

I know what you mean about not having any Amtrak near you. I'm in the same boat being in Columbus, OH (but hoping that changes soon as well -- it's in the talking stage at the moment). Amtrak from me is 2+ hours in any direction, but sometimes I do get the chance to drive the 2 hours and take...

    Hello, From Northampton, Ma

Welcome @Lcon ! Great to hear that you utilize the Valley Flyers and Vermonters at Springfield. I frequent the railcam there at Springfield quite often.

Blue Water 364 Using Wye at Durand, MI (2/27/23)

I just noticed from watching 364 come through on RailStream that it was using the wye at Durand instead of going through straight to the platform. I'm assuming that there's trackwork up ahead of the station at Durand? I'm not used to seeing it use the wye to bypass the station. 15 minutes...

    New Member - from Massachusetts

My involvement with MA is that I frequently online railfan the Springfield, MA cam which is located at the station (due to the Amtrak action it sees). It sees the Vermonters, Lake Shore Limited, and the Valley Flyer and Hartfort line shuttles. I do know that the Boston station is a really big...

Welcome @Gamereric21 to AU! Which Amtrak route will you be taking? I had my first Amtrak experience not too long ago as well (well, since I was a very young kid). I'm excited for your pending trip! Please let us know how it goes.

    New member here!

As @Flyaway welcomed you from the north, I want to say hello from your neighbor from just below you in the south (Columbus). With you being in the northeast Ohio area, I'm sure you get to see the Lake Short Limited and the Capitol Limited pass through your area.

Ohio finally starts the process for new Amtrak service

That was a good share there, @SubwayNut ! I appreciate you sharing that. @Palmland - I too am ready for movement on this, as I know all we've been hearing lately is about studies and reports; however, I know a lot of this takes a lot of time to investigate as the infrastructure will possibly...

Freight Derailment disrupts Capitol Limited 2/3/23

Interesting article there, @Rover . I know that usually with derailments, it is easy to point the finger; however, this is a good share of the concerns after the derailment. It definitely does leave the question open if opening that line when they did was a good idea or not.

Ohio finally starts the process for new Amtrak service

There have been some more developments... Cincinnati leaders meet with Amtrak to discuss expansion of passenger rail service I know that the 3C+D is still a long shot, but it's great to see more talks happening and possible pursuit of funds (no guarantees, though) to further investigate...

Freight Derailment disrupts Capitol Limited 2/3/23

I just watched #30 pass a railcam in Indiana. I'm assuming service through the affected area has been restored, or will it terminate before it reaches the area? (Unrelated: the #30 I saw pass the railcam had an ALC42 charger behind the P42 leader)

Ohio finally starts the process for new Amtrak service

This was posted yesterday. We are a step (even though it's a very very small one) closer to the possibility of the 3C+D coming to fruition. There still is a lot of work that would need to be done. DeWine takes ‘first step’ toward Ohio Amtrak expansion by seeking federal money
