Gateway Project/New York Penn Station capacity improvement

I think he's referring to this statement.

CS to CZ transfer 30 minute window dilemma

To do this, you buy three tickets on three separate reservations. Reservation #1: Your main trip from PDX to CHI with the connection in SAC where you're nice and safe with the connection. Reservation #2: Your extension on the CS from SAC to Emeryville. Reservation #3: Your trip back from EMY to...

    Family Bedroom "age limit" question

Agreed. And I (personally) would have no issues using the beds in a bedroom that I've paid for if my kids fit in them regardless of what some ticket agent said on the phone months ago. That's between you and the sleeper car attendant once you're aboard. I'd be shocked if they said you...

    Brightline Trains Florida discussion

That would be cool if that's actually what the mayor said. You seem to have phrased it in the form of a question for him, while he appears to have his mind made up already.

    Amtrak features and comfort updates

The pre/early Covid upgrades were coach seats/interiors and new pillows and blankets and such. Now it’s time to actually get the sleeper cars done.

    What should Amtrak change?

In addition to the technical reasons cited above, what makes you think that a 5-10 minute run time change is going to make any difference to someone looking to book a train? I can't fathom someone saying, "I'd certainly book this ATL-AYP train, but 18h39 minutes is just a little bit too long...

The effect of the potential rail strike on Amtrak

    Family Bedroom "age limit" question

However, if you scroll just below that, you see the table for allowable limits for non-berth service where you can see that 4 full fare (or even 5 full fare!) passengers can be booked. You'll have to call to do it, and they'll tell you that there isn't bed space for everyone, but once you are...

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

Someone posted a copy of the no-fee package, so some of them have gone out.

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

Thank you for confirming what the rest of us have been discussing for the last three pages. You may want to read up on them and catch up.

    What should Amtrak change?

As someone that's in the middle of what should be a very easy hiring action (internally advertised promotion), I'm not sure anything can be more convoluted than dealing with the hellscape that is OPM and DoD/DoN HR systems.

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

Information about how the current card is changing/ending isn't relevant to non-cardholders. I'm certain that once the new card is announced that all will be made amply aware.

You know for a fact that didn't happen?

    Parking at BWI

No need to, there's a fair sized garage at the station that I've never seen filled up.

    What should Amtrak change?

Given the lack of insight that we have into the causes of the issues, I'm going to decline to provide a rating, which is kind of my point. In a world where everything is upside down, and years worth of chronic underfunding have prevented the kind of computer systems that handle IRROPS as...

Superliner trains' removal and restoration of cars (2022-2023)

If it was happening in isolation, to Amtrak only, you might have a point. But literally the entire universe is having staffing problems and as bas as you think Amtrak management may be, I doubt that they're bad enough to see the universal staffing issues we're seeing both inside and outside of...

    "train runs"/short trips for TQPs?

That's when your current status expires. You have until the end of the calendar year to earn status for the next "year" (which is actually more than a year).

    Taking photos inside a train?

I would love to see this "law" that you claim exists. The fact that people have been stopped taking pictures makes no proof of the existence of said law. I've been stopped before, complained loudly and received written and verbal apologies from WMATA management with assurances that the...

    Culpeper, Virginia parking?

Man, I got real excited when I saw my old friend Rafi answering a question. Then I noticed the date. You may have set the record for the longest time between posts in a thread. (sorry, I have nothing to offer to actually answer your question - hopefully someone will)

Viewliners and Superliners ... what would you change?

Like the nice man said above. Sure, they can be. But there's less than zero chance Amtrak pays someone to do it.
