AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

The current iteration of the AGR credit card was only available since ~2016, since the Chase to BoA change didn't have the account move over (a new card application was needed.) There wouldn't be 20 years of never a missing a payment as far as the AGR card is concerned. Also, unless the AGR...

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

I just looked at the 9 credit/debit cards currently in my wallet. 3 have no signature space whatsoever. Two have a space that's presumably for a signature, but it's not labeled as a signature block One (an American Express) has the block and in really teeny tiny letters above it says "sign."...

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

The card is likely already cancelled. I think after entering in the info a couple of times it forwarded me to a rep as well, which may be worth trying. Otherwise I'd try calling the customer service number on the back of the card and make sure that the account doesn't exist on their end. I had...

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

The activation was done at noon CT yesterday (10/23.) Everything started working for me around that time. Even used my card yesterday afternoon.

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

I've found this to be less and less true, at least with the non-high-end cards. I called BoA today, said "agent," was told I still had to do the phone tree so I wouldn't have to be transferred to different agents, and so went through the tree (using the correct prompts, not just whatever might...

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

Transactions moved over for me as well on the active AGR (non-World) card. The World card that I got but had cancelled in late August, but then had a refund post to, would not activate. I went on the BoA website and it appears that the account still shows up there, but has been reclassified as...

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

I'm curious if that will change once the card becomes officially "active" later today, or if in a week or two if you remove and re-add it the Amtrak logo will generate then. My other FNBO card isn't generic and has the proper cobranding on it, so it might just be a processing delay since it's...

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

The actual MCCs covered by travel vary wildly by credit card issuer, and sometimes even vary between different cards from the same issuer. As a few examples, Chase defines travel as: Bank of America's Customized Cash Rewards card defines travel as Bilt Rewards defines travel as (click on...

Suggestion for Amtrak winter vacation spot?

The St. James Hotel in Red Wing, MN would be a good spot if you're wanting a pretty robust downtown area but still want small town feel and a lot of nature nearby. I've never stayed there myself, but I've heard a lot of good things, and the downtown area has a decent selection of restaurants and...

    Amtrak Long Distance advertising

Marketing pushes aren't often pet projects of the board. It's likely that marketing simply sees opportunities out there to advertise long distance trains as well and thus is creating some ads tailored to that. Ads on streaming services can also be tailored to very specific audiences, so they can...

    Assigned seats on the train?

Maybe they take the connection through Atlanta instead of the connection through MSP, because both segments on the Atlanta routing have preferred seating, but there's only a middle seat on one of the MSP legs. Or maybe they take the United itinerary instead of the American itinerary because...

Status of Surfliner Service between Oceanside and Irvine

Just saw this - nothing official but wouldn't be surprised if this is the case.

Status of Surfliner Service between Oceanside and Irvine

PLAN Z! It can't possibly fail!

Status of Surfliner Service between Oceanside and Irvine

Saw that as well. We're definitely going to be building contingency plans, though we're still determining when to switch from holding out hope to switching to those contingency plans.

Status of Surfliner Service between Oceanside and Irvine

Right now closures for this particular issue have just been announced for 9/30 - nothing yet for next week. The Saturday/Sunday work is a separate issue. That said, the Committee is aware and considering backup plans (plan C at this point?) in case of extended closures.

Consequences of not obeying Amtrak employees

An OBS member can't just "kick off" whoever they want to and the conductor will just go along with it. Also, spoiler alert: trains are also "the real world." Every job is different and has different expectations of the role. To a large extent, OBS has to be self-managing because there isn't a...

    WiFi on longer routes

That's correct. Most (all?) of the Superliner cars have not been equipped with permanent wi-fi hardware, so wi-fi is not available through Amtrak. On the trains with wi-fi, audio streaming is generally doable, though you may get some buffering, particularly in more rural areas where the cell...

    Family Bedroom "age limit" question

Why would any lying be required? Amtrak explicitly 4 adults in non-berth mode. There's a chance that the SCA won't turn down the bunks, but realistically as long as everyone comfortably fits I don't see it being an issue on board.

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

I got a letter for the World Mastercard that I cancelled the end of August. Not sure if they pulled the list too early for the initial announcement or what. We'll see if I get that card in October...

Proposed legislation could affect credit card rewards in the US

This bill, if it gets much traction (which I doubt,) also seems to be a pretty poor way of driving down interchange fees. Banks are still in control of which networks they can choose, and I wouldn't be surprised if some more expensive options come onto the market for banks to choose so they can...
