That might help northbound passengers boarding at Atlanta and points north, but it would do the opposite for passengers from points south wanting to go beyond Atlanta. Unless, of course, your proposed train is in addition to the Crescent.

I don't know for sure if it's a hard rule, but I for one would complain vociferously to the conductor if someone entered the dining car or observation car in bare feet.

Sleeping car passengers are offered one complimentary alcoholic beverage at dinner. I believe the stock included gun during my April '22 trip on the CZ. (I always took the Makers mark.) You get the booze (or wine/beer) plus a mixer, but I don't think they can mix you a cocktail. :(
