I have ridden the SL twice, both east to west and both on the south side in a roomette. The views were spectacular, and the highlight on my first trip in 2008 (IIRC) was a spectacular lightning show on the southern horizon at twilight.

Same thing happened to me, as I previously posted elsewhere. I took my original pdf printout showing roomette and my newer pdf showing bedroom when I boarded at NIB. Conductor told me he already knew I was in bedroom D, so I kept mum and enjoyed the extra space. No upcharge.

I was in the same bedroom in the same car on the same train (different date, of course ;) ) and liked it a lot. So you probably fared OK. The lower berth was pretty wide. Happy Honeymoon!
