    2021 04 08 Amtrak 92, The Silver Star MIA-WAS

Ooh, I hope so! I'm booked on the Silver Star NYP to KIS on 9/12. If so I hope they keep the brownie. I thought they were delicious. In fact, I purchased a set of eight (8) directly from the vendor. :)

    Sleeper 9712...Wow!

IndyLions, Thank you for such an in-depth review of the new VLII Bedroom. I have a bedroom booked for mid-September travel on both the Silver Star and Silver Meteor. I read another post on this forum that all sleepers on the Silver Service trains now feature the VLII sleepers. I hope that is...

Eliminating open-plan seating and having all cars be compartments

I think about The Beatles in "A Hard Day's Night". They shared a compartment with that little old man they "adopted" as their GrandDad 😀

Does Anyone Still Have This Blanket?

    Yes, Vintage late ‘90s :)

    Superliner Replacement Costs

I like the idea of an enclosed shower in the en-suite bathroom. I was never too keen about Amtrak’s “shower/toilet” concept in the bedrooms (Superliner and Viewliner).

How do feel about riding "Coach" ?

The "last" time I rode coach overnight was in 2014 onboard LSL from NYP to DET (via Thruway bus at TOL). I so wanted a sleeper but finances at the time dictated coach. The first 6 to 8 hours were okay. After that those coach seat cushions really became a pain in the "butt"! I was SO...

New dining options (flex dining) effective October 1, 2019

I rode CL from WAS to DET (Via TOL) August 19-20. Service for both dinner and breakfast was acceptable. For dinner I didn't have to ask for dessert, the pre-packaged brownie was included in the box. The dinner roll had been microwaved and inedible. But, the beef dish was tasty. Had the egg and...

Amenity kit on LSL and CL?

I traveled on Capitol Limited Monday 8/19/19 from DC to Toledo. I received no Amenity Kit. Instead the train was over 4 hours late into Toledo!

Amenity kit on LSL and CL?

Way back in 1997 when the Viewliner Equipment still had the "new car scent", I had a Roomette on LSL, boarding in Toledo, OH in the middle of the night. I received a very nice 1998 date planner with the LSL Logo on the front cover. I also received a pack of Oreo Cookies as a late night snack...

    Notice in AMTRAK app

I think you're referring to the message seen when you tap the "Details" button. Under the Bar Code there is a link "Change Trip". The message regarding changes is simply alerting you that any changes made will affect the reservation currently being viewed. If you make no changes, none will be...

Detroit to Toledo Thruway Bus question

I rode the Toledo-Detroit Thruway Bus last August round-trip. The bus is as depicted in the photo posted above. It's a very pleasant 1 hour ride. You can stow a small carry-on in the overhead luggage compartment that is reminiscent of a plane, with doors that close.

    Waitlist for sleeping car space.

I had a similar experience in 2005. Amtrak called to see if I was interested in upgrading my southbound Crescent coach seats to a Viewliner Bedroom for just $80 bucks. Of course I jumped on that deal immediately!

Capitol Limited & Lake Shore Limited Delays Summer/Fall 2014

I found this on Amtrak's Service Disruptions page today: Significant Delays between Chicago and Washington/New York/Boston via Cleveland Effective through January 12, 2015 Passengers traveling aboard the Capitol Limited and Lake Shore Limited may experience significant delays due to heavy...

NYC=>Ann Arbor, Lake Shore Lmt. & bus--baggage question

I rode the LSL from NYP to Detroit via Toledo in December of 1997. I checked a really big piece of luggage at Penn Station about 6 hrs prior to departure. I didn't have to touch that bag again until arrival in Detroit. Amtrak transferred my luggage from the train to the Thruway Bus. I'm guessing...

Superliner Roomette 18 on Sunset Limited

Are the Transdorm sleepers less expensive than the passenger sleepers? I will assume that Amtrak makes the decision about who gets booked there. Sent from my iPhone using Amtrak Forum

I created this thread originally & I agree it should be renamed as stated above.

What does your Forum User Name mean?

Hello. My forum name NYP2NFL01 represents the first time I traveled from New York Penn Station to Niagara Falls, NY in 2001. I really love this forum. I didn't know it existed until just a month ago.

    Amfleet Coach Seats

Is it my imagination? Or are the coach seats in Amfleet coach really uncomfortable? Trying to get some sleep on overnight routes is nearly impossible! No matter which way you try to adjust yourself, these seats really hurt your posterior! Has anyone else experienced this? I'd like to read your...

    Superliner Roomette- upper or lower?

I Try speaking to a ticket rep at a staffed station. Often the really dilligent ones will do things the phones reps won't do. Case in point: on my recent trip from Detroit (via Toledo), I called Amtrak to try and switch my reservation from train 30 (Capitol Ltd) to train 48 (Lake Shore Ltd)...
