Yep, It was definitely a variation from the normal consist.

Amtrak train consists vary from time to time based upon equipment availability. In September 2021 I took the Silver Star, where normally 9110 is a Viewliner 1 and 9111 is a Viewliner 2. However, on my trip BOTH sleepers were Viewliner 1.

4912 was a Viewliner II last August when I was onboard the Lake Shore LTD. Thanks!

Did Amtrak do away with those brownies? That was one aspect of the Flex dining I will miss - they were really good! Personally, I can live without the Butter Cake!

In 1998, The Carolinian Business Class was termed "The Carolina Club". In addition to free soft drinks, free movies were shown on TV monitors scattered throughout the car. No cart service though!

My wife has dust mite allergies. When we travel on Amtrak, she brings a portable air purifier onboard. It keeps the air in the roomette or bedroom clean. It’s really small, so it fits in our carry on bag.

That would be nice! My in-laws live in Detroit. When we visited them last summer, they drove us from Detroit to Toledo to avoid the Thruway Bus, and not have to spend hours waiting for the train. We timed our travel based on Amtrak train status updates, and arrived at the Toledo station just 10...

I’m currently viewing Grounded Life Travel’s review of Via Rail’s Canadian train on YouTube. There was a welcome aboard reception waiting for them, with very nice snacks! For their meals, the food looked delicious, really nice. Are you paying attention, Amtrak?
