Tips for meals and Sleeping Car attendant

Since the word TIPS means "To Insure Prompt Service" I always slip the SCA a $10 bill when boarding. Tips raised me so I know the importance of them.

List of meals served on all LD trains

I know this is a very old thread. But my last trip I boarded the CZ eastbound at Fort Morgan, CO (FMG) after Denver and it was about 15 minutes late. Much to my surprise not expecting dinner service. I through my bags in my room and decided to head to the Lounge to grab a coke. Well I walked...

    #48(30) joins the whack-a-vehicle party :(

The one I mentioned I don't think any politician or uppity-muck was involved with the prompt upgrade. But as you said the crossing was put at the top of list.

Used to get stuck at Red Road back and forth to work at the airport. This was back in the late 60's thru the 70's. Ex-girlfriend (Dr. Whaley's daughter) lived at Starling and Miami Springs Avenue.

    New flex meal menu (10/06/21)

I was messing around a couple weeks ago on Google Street View looking for USA Train Horns and around some of my ol' stomping grounds in Hialeah and tripped across an Amtrak catering facility at 4627 E 10th Ln, Hialeah, FL 33013. Never knew it was there but has been 43 years since I've been back...

Greenpeace study: rail vs. short-haul air

And for what the airlines charge for checked baggage they should come to your house and them for you. Then deliver them to your destination, unpack, iron and hang everything!

We have BNSF (Brush Sub) and UP (Greeley Sub) nearby. Luckily there are fire stations and hospitals on both sides and pretty good police (both city and county) coverage also. The more troublesome is the UP as there is a new automobile intake facility that is nearby by and some of the new car...

Similar situation when I lived on a CSX main just southeast of Nashville. Four teens late for school got hit and killed at a small 2-lane neighborhood crossing with just crossbucks. Lights and crossing gates were put up a couple weeks later. No room for an overpass without razing several long...

Same idiots blowing the gates are probably the same ones that bitched and moaned about train horns thus creating "Quiet Zones". And suggest the trains should be moved somewhere else. They moved into a neighborhood built within the last 10 years and complain about something that has been here for...

Oh I remember FEC way back when when they weren't fast. At least crossing Red Road in Hialeah. Caught many of them back then. Most getting up to speed coming out of the Miami Springs Yard crossing the ol' trestle over the canal.

    USA Rail Passes

Wouldn't have a problem "living" on train. But where do you do laundry?

California Zephyr Hits Garbage Truck in Iowa

Hey it's a government website wouldn't expect it to make common sense. Nothing is "normalized" there.

    Trip Report to Grand Junction

Keep an eye out for Mike Jensen 80701 from YouTube fame usually on the platform filming #5 every morning as they stop at Fort Morgan, CO. The crew usually gives him a shout-out over the radio if you're toting a scanner.

Amtrak nurse (proposal for the future)

Yeah they need to install seatbelts on the exercise bandwagon. Seems like so many have a tendency to fall off! I was required to be certified in first aid along with CPR as a manager for UPS in the early 90's. But that certification has long since run out.

    New flex meal menu (10/06/21)

There are over 170+ known food allergens. That is gonna be a long list for LSAs to tote. It appears that the Amtrak's "Food Facts" menu ingredients by meal with the nine common known allergen groups covers the 2.5% of food allergies public as required.

Curious does this link not provide the information people need? Amtrak Food Facts A quick glance looks like it covers all the required stuff including allergens.
