Future Amtrak Equipment and ADA ideas

They are stacked on top of each other. If you get creative, you can probably fit at third level.

Future Amtrak Equipment and ADA ideas

Well, looking at this diagram, I can estimate that two berths (bunked) take up about the same space as a long distance coach row. Maybe a little more. So, with this design, you can fit almost as many passengers as a coach car would, and everyone gets to sleep easier, laying flat, and get a...

Future Amtrak Equipment and ADA ideas

Yup. That's why I think the best possible option is to bring back those sleeper bunks. You, those individual beds that are in their own little cubby, stacked on top of each other, with sliding doors. The capacity would be about the same as a coach. Since passengers will be sleeping for the vast...

San Francisco - Los Angeles Night Train proposals

Who said anything about intermediate stops? I'm under the impression that the train is planned to run nonstop LA to SF, which frankly makes sense, as the service wouldn't be convenient for anyone traveling to or those cities. Those guys can take the Coast Starlight

Remember the Vegas X-Train anyone? 😂

Well, depending on how the Amtrak long distance fleet replacement goes, they might be able to snag some Viewliners for cheap.

I don't think offering a coach class is a good idea. Nobody likes sleeping in a coach seat, so it would not offer a better alternative to flying. It's probably best to fit as many lie flat beds as possible on the train.

The spirit of Queensland is somewhat private. You have the option to book a single seat. Besides, americans have gotten used to lie fat business class on planes.

There is currently a sleeper bus that runs from Nashville to DC. I'm shocked the company lasted this long. But hey, the Auto-Train was a success. The only reason they went bankrupt was because of a too aggressive expansion to Louisville.

San Francisco - Los Angeles Night Train proposals

Yeah, I feel like the right move would be to import whatever Nightjet is using. Specifically those new cars with the private sleeping bunks like this: Another idea is to have something like that Australian sleeper train, with it's seats that convert into a bed, similar to business class...

San Francisco - Los Angeles Night Train proposals

https://www.sfgate.com/travel/article/la-sf-night-train-proposal-dreamstar-17891587.php Think this could work? 300 dollars seems a little pricey, but if the price can go down a little, I think it could.

Wait. So, according to the article, all of the business class cars are going to be permanently coupled to the cafe cars. It's a configuration that make more sense that what was initially reported: business class class cars being coupled to coach, and cafe being connected to another coach. That...

They remind me of the Intercity 125 trainsets. In the same way that they are individual locomotives and passenger cars coupled together, but they are designed to go together and you can't imagine them coupled to anything else.

Also, I wouldn't call them identical. The business seats appear to be leather. The cushion could be more comfortable, but we won't know until we get a review.

Why isn't there a glass divider between the two? What's to stop some guy with a coach ticket from just sitting in the bigger chair, then switching to the coach seat once they see a conductor coming?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the new business class cars split into to two sections? A coach section and a business class section.

All that I can find so far is this. You can clearly see the words "business class" on the door, but still no videos of the interior.

I also found this. If anyone was wondering what a Siemens only train looks like, here is the answer.

All Ventures. Looks pretty sweet. And honestly, the livery on the F40ph matches pretty well with the Ventures.

So, what's the current business class setup, considering that the cafe cars aren't in service yet? Is the business class section of the cafe car just not being used if there's a ventre business class?
