Amtrak Cafe service, vending machines etc. discussion

https://pedestrianobservations.com/2021/02/12/no-cafe-cars-please/ This article makes a lot of good points. I mean, Japanese trains don't have food cars, and they are the best trains in the world. I'd honestly just rather pick up some food to go from a restaurant beforehand. Let's be honest...

Pre-Electrification speeds between New Haven and Boston

I'm doing a reaserarch project and I need to know what types of speeds passenger trains ran at on northern part of the Northeast Corridor between New York and Boston. The only info I found was that the Turnotrain service hit speeds of 100 mph, but that that service didn't last too long. After...

Sleeper service on the Northeast Regional

I remember they introduced sleepers on the overnight Northeast Regional, but there do not seem to be any for sale. However, I couldn't anything in the news or online that they are no longer in service. What gives?

Ambitious restoration and transformation in the Chicago area

I could be wrong, but doesn't the yard on the west side of the mainline tracks belong to Metra?

It's permanently raised. Too expensive to demolish.

Ambitious restoration and transformation in the Chicago area

Honestly, I think there is a much simpler solution: use Millenium Station. Sure, not all amtrak services won't be in the same place, but that's already the case in Boston. I feel there are very few people who make connections anyway. Not only that, but Millenium station is in a much more...

Ambitious restoration and transformation in the Chicago area

So, about that new St. Charles Air Line ramp. My question is, where on earth is it going to go? It just does not look like there is any room to install a new bridge, unless they can take a few storage tracks out of service.

Business class on the Illini/Saluki is a ripoff

Update. Now the business class uses the refreshed superliner coaches. Here are a couple pictures I took.

Well, it is also a baggage car, so there might be a cat in that car.

That looks a lot nicer than the current industrial look of the amfleets and, especially, the horizons.

I believe the Piedmont has a lounge cat, despite the fact that they only have vending machines.

In my opinion, the old seats were a little TOO generous with the recliner. The person in front of you could practically go into your lap. To be fair, I dont really care about the recline that much. I usually just keep my seat in the upright position because I'm more comfortable that way. Now...
